search the boards - I'm pretty sure that Sharkey has a bad reputation. Another rule of thumb is if a company has to resort to hiring bonuses, there is usually a problem with turnover which also means drivers do not like the company enough to stay without being bribed. I've always had trouble using the search function here, but now a days, you can google the company name and truckersreport and get links directly to the appropriate threads.
cash21 Thanks this. -
you need to also remember that a lot of turn over rate is do to drivers wanting unrealistic home time and only easy higher paying loads,I have not heard anything bad about Sharky.

Almost all had a yellow and green Mack, but I saw a white one pulling a trailer with the STI on it Wednesday, Bonuses can be used to lure an experienced driver from another company, I thought they required experience, but I have never considered them.
Mostly dry vans from what I have seen on the road.cash21 Thanks this. -
Talked to a Sharkey driver Wensday, He had 2 things he didn't like, older trucks and no running toll roads which really sucks for him because he's in and out of Chicago alot. Other wise he said he was content, decent pay and home every weekend.

Thanks a lot for the info much appreciated! Think I'll give them a call on Monday and see what's up

Check their CSA scores, especially on HOS compliance. They say say they're sticklers on log books, but they'll put you on loads you can't deliver on time. Lots of waiting especially on the reefer side.

Here is some posts that I have made before and I hope this help you with any information that you may need. I work here and if you have any questions always feel free to send me a message.
I'm going to retire here. This is the best company I have ever worked for. It's truly an open door policy here. The last day of orientation the President Jack Sharkey came out of his fancy office and shook my hand, welcomed me aboard, even gave me his cell phone number. I think a lot of that man. What president of a trucking company would take the time to not just meet you as a new hire but also give you his personal number if you have any issues that you don't agree with. Obviously its not to abuse that right. But yes, the most personal working experience I have ever had, even outside of the trucking business.
He's not just a numbers cruncher type president either. He started this company from the seat. Our program is designed by our driver committee. Thats what stands out to me. They actually listen to us here. I'm on a dedicated run right now. I get home every night and off on the weekends. I gross around $1100 a week right now. I took a different pay type. I'm driving on percentage because I'm able to make more this way. But you get to choose your schedule, lanes, mileage or percentage pay, I really couldn't ask for more. Plus I have 5 boys and the company pays for not only my benefits but my entire family. This saves me a ton of money.
I think their is local lanes in springfield, IL right now too. Just call the recruiters and they will fill you in on everything. No shadyness here. They even put everything in writing for you. It's not a perfect company, but what else could a driver really ask for?
There's tons of info out there. Not just this forum and the couple of haters that obvously got canned or something. Get out there and check out other forums and websites. Thanks for the private message and if you don't mind I am going to post it in the forum also. It could benefit others who read this forum too. I just got tired of answering the one guy who just keeps posting in this forum. It was dead for almost 5 years.
Check out Brenda's stuff on You Tube. She has several videos that she has done. She even had a film crew ride with her about the life as a lady trucker here.
Hope this helps Driver! Be safe out there!

You can also check out a thread that a lot of us current and past drivers have posted on this other thread on here. It actually goes back a few years. Hope this help y'all!!

I'm sorry, but I lasted less than a month w/Sharkey. Said I wasn't running hard enough, which I read run tired, run illegal logs, etc., all the while they change your load your under when they know you're running already to of Milan. Instead of a 3PM p/u, they change to another load to a 11PM p/u and run all night to be there the following AM at 9. My 14 hr started at 1PM. Thank God I had my personal vehicle in Quincy. Reminder to look at Sharkeys CSA scores before you decide to
apply and or work for them.
