What is the hardest thing about trucking

Hey there Rugerfan I don't recall the names, but I have lived in Grass Valley for 50 years. I went to school with a Mark Cummins, maybe there related?

 

the hardest thing for me was the first two years of doing things the company way and the endless BS they put you thru

since having my own truck, i can honestly say there is nothing HARD about trucking, i enjoy it, i will not change careers

 

Spending all the money I make

 

Feeling sick and still have to drive this big frieken vehicle.

 

Too funny, If that's a Mountian Dew in his hand, I truly understand. Too much caffien

 

Runawayload, straight up. Being away from home. I look back over the years, the most has definitely been being away from home. Especially approaching holidays. Watching cars go by filled with happy families and the backs of vehicles stuffed with presents, camping eguipment, pulling boats, skiis on top or bikes, and driving through tourist towns, looking at all the people just having fun with their families. I my friend, even teared up at times knowing my wife and children were home doing the same without me. They say things happen for a reason. Sometimes you can't figure it out right then, but eventually it hits you. In 05, Christmas night, my wife after 26 years of being together, past away suddenly. With 2boys and 1 girl, 9,12 and 13, no family to help I had to make alife changing decision. That decision enabled me to spend most of my time with the three children and raise them, becomming very close to each other. I'm about to send my last one through college. I will have to say life is too short and before you know it it's gone. Everthing out there that you may encounter is nothing compared to being away from home. You can't replace the time missed no matter how hard you try. This can be said to everyone, the next time a reciever barks at you, just tell him/her, I'm sorry your having a bad day, anything I can do to help? Watch the exspression on their face change or 4 wheeler cuts you off, so what your a proffessional, that's expected. Traffic, not a problem, turn on some good tunes and relax. Dispatch or company giving you problems or treated you like a second rate human being, leave, plenty of companies out there. Eventually you'll find one that's right for you. Being Dot'd, Shake the man/womans hand and introduce yourself, asking what you can do to make this inspection easier. You'll be surprised!!!! Find a way to put a positive spin on the situation.

 

Finding good paying loads

ever-increasing amount of traffic

price of fuel

government hamstringing my biz with useless rules.

The filth - filthy, muddy lots, filthy, litterbug drivers, drivers depositing bodily waste in their own living areas.

I got lots more.....

 

Everything aside from the driving part!

 

Being away from my family. Not being home for all the special thing that happen while you are gone.
