For you 2 teaming won't be to bad cuz ur together. But u got to beable to sleep while truck is moving and sometimes during day to drive at night. U drive 10 hours and switch. Get some exp then move to reefer with new company. More money in cold stuff.

Team is great with ur significant other...in my OPINION. We own our setup though, which may be different than pulling under company rules. We have multi picks and drops going and heading back home. When we home port, I tend to the truck/trailer and loading. She tends to the paperwork, bills, house, etc. It is trucking and it is what we enjoy.

Well, you're already running with him, so you know how it is to be with him in close quarters 24/7, right ? Now, the driving part. As a team, if it's a good team operation, the truck will be going 24/7, stopping just for fuel and deliveries etc. So, you sleep while the truck is moving, or, at least, try to sleep. A good team op will do 6000 a week (miles). That's coast-coast in 48 hrs. As in Fresno on Monday, and Atlanta on Wednesday. Week after week after week. This will beat you down after awhile. Eractic sleep and eating and daily needs etc. The upside is money, good money. You're running so hard, you don't have time to spend any !

Current team driver (with my husband)... Sleeping while the truck is moving sucks, but you either get use to it, or you're so tired it doesn't matter. Since you've been a rider, you know about the living conditions... And the 'togetherness'... LOL! Getting trained does help the income flow, and if true 'team driving' is too many miles, you can do what's known as 'super single'... Still stopping at night for 4-6 hrs. Not as many miles, but less stress due to better sleep ;)

Since you are riding with him you have the perfect chance to find out.
All you have to do is adjust your schedule to sleep when he is driving, and be awake when he is sleeping.

Then, you will have some idea of what team driving is all about.
Don't plan on much quality time with him if you decide to team drive, except for a few days home time each month.

I drove as a team while training.
    Never again.

I teamed for 6 months with a dude I am still friends with today so that part can be done easy enough. My problem was that as you said that truck will rarely stop rolling and its next to impossible to sleep for 8 hours without several interuptions. It doesnt take long til you are just flat worn out all the time. When I got home(usually 2 days after 2 weeks out) all I wanted to do was sleep.

Is it worth the money because I heard they run you into the ground and won't give you a day off?!

I ran team for almost two years. I liked it personally. The majority of drivers don't like it though.

There are advantages other than pay. Less worries about HOS. If one of you is running out of hours and the truck stop is full, no problem, the other one continues down the road to somewhere. Same thing with getting stuck at shipper/receivers. You have more freight available to you. You can still run a solo load if nothing team is around. Maybe you can drop it somewhere early, maybe you can swap with a solo guy, maybe you're stuck with it, but you're moving. There's two of you to help each other in uncomfortable situations. Someone to spot for you backing in a tight spot, an extra pair of eyes while driving through a big city, etc.

Sleeping in a moving truck is usually the big problem for most people. Some can, more can't. With the two of you being a couple, you won't see each other as much. There will still be times where you can though. If a team truck isn't moving much you're both sharing that lack of pay, but with you guys the money probably goes to the same place so that's not as big of a deal. Considering the lack of Werner trucks I see driving at night, you'll probably be sitting some.

You get 3 to 4 hours everyday to spend time together, the other time one is sleeping. Its stressful depending on someone to work as hard as you. You'll get upset at their driving while you try to sleep. Sleeping while they bob trail or drive empty is the worst it feels like nascar. I need the money but would much prefer your situation for living, its just a means to an end for us
