The op is still green, and here is my ADVISE for in the future, or should I say, thru out my experience this is what I have learned, I try to trouble shoot ALL my problems, if I could fix them, I fix them even though I might need to add another special tool to my box, and the money I save on labor, pay's for the tool and more. OK, part 2, If I can't fix it, I take it to a shop that SPECAILIZES, on that particular problem, In other word's, CLUTCH problem, find a DRIVETRAIN shop, if you have engine issue's, find a specific shop that specializes in your engine type, "CAT", detroit, com a part, etc., electrical issue, find an electrical shop, and with today's technology at your finger tip's, "GOOGLE" for a shop in the area your broke down in, or ASK several people in town where is a reliable shop for your certain problem. I think you get the picture.

Forget the lawsuit, here's what you do:

    1. Buy a pair of red leather pants and white silk shirt.

    2. Go to shop while that guy is there and ask him loudly if he ever planned on calling you back.

    3. Go back eery day asking him if you were just a one night stand or is he is serious.

My guess is that by the second day, he will offer more than you would get by suing.

For everyone saying you will never get what money from them; you need to check the state laws. This is the law for North Carolina, yours may vary BUT atleast it shows you do have some recourse for collecting your money.

Words are words. "If you can't work on it, you shouldn't own it" is pretty cut and dry, IMO. If he meant differently, he should've clarified.

I think he meant exactly what he said, instead of "If you don't work on it, you shouldn't own it". Big difference between can't and don't.

That being said, it's still a matter of degree. You don't need to be an expert truck mechanic, but it comes in handy to know enough to know when you're getting fleeced.

I don't agree, the dealer who has the manufacturer behind them in proper training and a record of quality work will actually have a lot of weight behind them in court. If they claim that the repairs were incorrectly done, then no matter what the first shop offered, the judge could easily decide that because they didn't do the work right in the first place, they are still responsible. Don't forget that the book time for a clutch replacement isn't days but hours and with the lack of proper tools (really what's that all about?), the lack of a reasonable life of the clutch, not to mention the missing bolts, etc. ... all make it look like they were responsible and should pay

Get your phone records printed off from all of the calls that you had made to them. Get affidavits from freightliner, pictures are proof. Our mechanics here can get a clutch done in less than two days. Good Luck
