You will have no problem finding empty, idle trucks in Denver. Just put a flyer in one of the truck stops and you will have 30 semi trucks.
old time, SHC and Container Hauler Thank this. -
Thanks. We will do that. If anyone on here is from Denver and interested - let me know.
Take care. -
I seem to recall an instance where I was driving down Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs in a Pioneer Sand Company truck, and there was a truck in the middle lane, following a camera crew on the back of a pickup... was that your organization? This would have been back in September or October, I think.
Is there any specifics for the kinds of configurations of trucks you're looking for? I can think of a small fleet owner in Elbert, a drilling company owner in Colorado Springs, and a rancher/fleet owner in Lamar who might be willing to make a little extra revenue with their trucks.bullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
Just like Hal Needham did for Smokey and The Bandit. Hire on truckers as extras. Pay them boys good Mitch!
[Though filming was grueling, the truckers were treated like royalty. "They got $200 per day in cash, plus some of the best meals ever to fill a plate," which included crab legs and sirloin, the story reported.]
That was $200 in 1976 money. Probably equal to $600 a day today. -
You worked for pioneer sands? Pulled a brokered load and they were the company you ever deal with a Lenny?

Several years ago I supplied 2 trucks for a segment of " AMERICA'S MOST WANTED". Lots of fun. Got to play a truck driver.

Maybe.. there's a lot of people from there I don't remember. I was on the transfer side at first, but they're supervised by a woman named Ilene, and she's extremely confrontational... I've never hit a woman in my life, but ###### if she didn't almost become the first. I asked for a transfer to the tandems after that, and stayed there, aside from a brief stint filling in on the lowboy while they were between drivers after the lowboy driver wrecked an aluminum dump somewhere down towards Pueblo.. I agreed to fill in, but refused to take the gig permanently, as the pay wasn't worth it, and dealing with Ilene definitely wasn't worth it. Once I was on the tandem side, I didn't deal with people on the transfer side, and I didn't go north of Castle Rock... south, I got out to Pueblo West from time to time, as I was the secondary flat & fork driver.

Thanks for everyone chiming in here...and I've been able to talk to a couple of you. Sadly we are an independent production company = low budget. We can't even compete with the 1976 money, but we can feed you well and we can have logos in the movie and in the credits. We are looking to get this done for $125 per truck per night...I know that's low, but seems like someone may be interested in that.
Thank you. -
Sounds like some of the great rates I get from brokers
ColumbiaBoB and SGTSmokdU Thank this.
