I have a year of experience, but got into a rollover a couple of months ago; I have not been able to find work since. People have told me to seek out the small Mom and Pop companies, but they have all had stricter requirements than the big companies. Any advice on finding another company, any company, just to have a year of accident-free driving to become eligible for legitimate companies?

My advice is the you better learn how to turn a wrench or how to dispatch if you wish to stay in the trucking industry. Your career as a driver ended when you put the wheels of the rig skyward.

This is tough, Whose fault was it? I guess that really doesn't matter, a roll over is grounds to be banned from any trucking position, There probably not a insurance company out there that will over look that, Maybe like stated to get another gig, hang on to your CDL and maybe you can get back in soon after a while.

I can see hitting someone, either following too closely or driving to fast, and this is still a hard pill for insurance companies to swallow. However, to roll 20-40 tons, you have to be doing something pretty f-stupid unless there was some major mechanical failure such as a steer tire blowing and the truck then went off the ravine.

I had an instructor at school tell me to run over a car if it cuts me off and not to jerk the steering wheel left or right. The posters absence of claiming of a mechanical error makes me believe the rollover was due to operator error.

A deisle mechanic's tuition is just $10k or so; or get an Associates Degree, if that is even needed, and make the $25k/yr as a dispatcher.

Any company that will take you this soon after a roll over is a company that is probably going to have you doing things in equipment that will only lead to you putting more black marks on your record.

I think you might be on ice for a while as far as driving OTR. I would try a construction company, a trash hauler or maybe a tow truck company. Anything that will give you a chance to drive.

I think Western Express will take you six months after a roll over, but I dont know that its worth it to go there.

it takes just one second to get yourself in a position that a rollover is inevatable
you need to get a little more seasoning before opening your mouth as you go back where you came from

Just try anywhere and everywhere. That's about all you can do in that situation.
