Why buy an 07 when your gonna have to upgrade in a year to an 08+ emissions truck??
KH -
ARB law states that 2007 -2009 are in compliance to 2023 that give me about 9 years to upgrade again to 2010 or later model I hate this law but is you do it or dont ride calif starting next year .
-
To get an epa07 engine, you'll need a 2008 model year truck.
Engines are 1 year behind chassiss.Container Hauler Thanks this. -
KH That is what I was going to say, If he gets a '07 then he will not be able to run out of Cali.
-
Ok in that case i will go 08 T660 or 386 pete
-
Ok still what u guys think T660 or 386 pete
both runing CAT wich one will u pick -
You my friend asked the million dollar question. Me: I'd get a 10 386. I say 2010 as DPF's are pretty reliable in that year. The 08-09's were noted for being unrelaible as the DPF was just introduced. Every engine that CAT produced until 07 was good. However, many people will attest, that the 08-09 and 10 CAT engines are junk. The only option is if anyone buys a cat engine from that era is to remove any emission equipment. Dealers were giving away these trucks as no one wanted them. Last year there still was 08 and 09 trucks with cat engines in them as everyone either bought a detroit or cummins. Want relaibility and the Paccar name brand?? Buy 10 386 or T660 with a cummins engine.

You can have a truck built in 07 with a DPF on it, I have one. It is called a 08 due to the build date, some cutoff date that the manufacturer uses allow them to due it this way. If the dealership just looked at the door jam they may have made a mistake, it's worth asking if it has a DPF. But like everyone has said if it doesn't have a DPF then why buy it for the remainder of 2013 & that's only if it was registered with CARB.

Ok if i go the cummins route i have ask many company drivers and they all say is shxt no offense
i heard the turbo goes bad and that alone is 5000 to replace also heard the engine dont last long 600,000 to 750,000 if ur lucky like me i guess ????
I just dont want to buy a nightmare truck from hell thats gona burn the little money i make braking
down all the time ???
