I'd love to drive an auto long haul sometime to compare to mr.13 speed. A Paccar rep. that i spoke with a while ago said that there will come a day when everything rolling off of the assembly line will be an auto. Makes perfect sense from a maintenance perspective i guess, and if they can get the fuel mileage to be equal to, or be better than a manual rig, then he's probably right.
I'm sure Walsh went with autos for a good reason.
Hey Chutch....keep us posted on your progress! Good luck!!!

Hey sorry for the delay CL13-3 has been keepin me busy got my permit and endorsements except for hazmat in one shot but went back the next day and knocked it out just fine last week. The rubber finally met the road today first drive went better than I though for myself at least backing will take some practice too
. Downshifting takes practice and a level head. Ill i will say about the other drivers with me is : everyone has their own learning curve for things. Round 2 tomorrow will be better. -

I had one your family members! I don't remember if your a son or bro tho, he kept pointing at Walsh rigs when they would go by. All three for me, cegar smoken shorty dude " southern draw " filled in for 15min once, other wise classroom office. Roll call: 1) Gambler " DI double clutch , " no no no can't say that " , " zone zone zone.. shift " for classroom and drive 2) mechanic w/screwed up leg , shoots the crap mostly and screws with your mind for fun " KFC pies and Dounuts " class 30min maybe and " shifty " is his what he dry humps 3) mister " How you feeling? " " Got swamp butt yet? " " How you doing? " " Allrighty then " " Right on " ...
-
Swung into school today , talked with Dave and pick-up my two dollar's he owed me! I see that " Gambler " got a DI style high-n-tight haircut, looks good. Lurked around the shift range till I saw " Swamp butt " just stopping before deadhead track ( after lunch ) and then " KFC pie " pulled up in the old M@y truck. I thanked all of the staff that I delt with , one-on-one that is! They are all very good in ther area's of teaching.

Jeff and Ron have been my driving instructors Bob in the yard and Dan did the bulk of the classroom stuff. I'm no longer looking at the big companies due to all the otr jobs they have I know locals hard to find but that's all I can consider for work my wife didnt feel comfortable with otr and she said otr or her pick one.
-
Good luck with that! I tried all of what was on the job list (most was come in fill out app, but no open spots all have been filled) and what else ran trucks for local. Calcon was looken for just about anybody (cement truck) with intel's new job site.
Chutch Thanks this. -

Yeah it'll be tough to get a local gig just out of school and if you do you'll make burger flipper wages sorry to say.
There's so many drivers out there with a year or two under their belts wanting those jobs that a newb out of school doesn't stand much of a chance and then there's the insurance problem.
Most small companies can't insure a driver with less than two years experience, the big players are all self insured and can hire new drivers just out of school so they got ya by the balls pretty much.
