Call some companies and tell your story just as you have here. There are companies that will help you and pay for the tests and whatever else you need. Just be honest... You'd be surprised at the results.

Where are you guys located? I'll try to get some info on Maverick if you'd like...

I'm tapping on this one. We've all tried to explain the same thing 47 different ways and they don't want to hear it. Doesn't matter what the law says, doesn't matter who he will put in danger, doesn't matter. I'm going to end my input with this. If you have sleep apnea, you are a danger to me, you, everyone on this board and the rest of the motoring public. Listen to the drivers who have it and who have adjusted to it. They know what they're talking about, they aren't CPAP salespeople. They are drivers, who found that they had sleep apnea, and have taken corrective action which SAVED THEIR LIVES and others around them. Good luck, hopefully you won't kill yourself or anyone else and with that I bid you adieu.

Google is your friend. You can actually adjust the pressure on your machine yourself. Set it to a comfortable setting then after a week have your card read and see if you are getting positive results. Yes a doctor isn't going to recommend you doing that but that's much better than lying about it

I know schneider pays for the cpap I have a friend who is one it they made him sign a contract saying he cant even drive his personal car without being ont he machine. I was tested and told i had it instead of buying the 2000 or more machine from the company i went to renew my licnese and got one offline for a few hundred i trid to use it but couldnt sleep with it. It actually gave me the symptoms of sleep apnea. instead of fixing them the only one i have is nightly urination. I called DOT about it cause they said it was DOT but the texas DOT told me they dont regulate it its company to company. I drove for some other companies that never asked me about it or anything so i didnt mention it. I did fine with them. They only test fat people the requirement to test is a neck over 18 inches. Funny i talked to a bean pole who sold the machines and he probably wouldnt have been tested if at the company. when i go back to the usa I will not mention it. If they test me I will see what happens then. I sill just pray they dont test for it. And yes the test is stressful and hard to sleep during cause your in a strange place, usually on your back and have wires attached everywhere. So this in itself keeps alot of people awake making the results wrong. There is still lots of research and arguements about sleep apnea Or try some of those mouth peaces for snoring It may take care of the problem IF the company allows it. I know some do not. My info a few years old things may have changed

Okay all I want to know is if he goes with another company does not disclose any info on sleep apnea and within 2 - 4 weeks has a new study done and passes it will he be fine as long as nothing occurs during that time period? Also is there anyway the company would find out abt it other than an accident? That's ALL I want to know

I will admit it, if it was me I would lie. I will not give a carrier a reason not to hire me. Now I don't have sleep apnea but if I develop it I will just lie on the questionnaire. Sleep apnea has been around forever, and truckers have been trucking a long time. Somehow someway truckers drove without cpap machines. Not trying to start a flame war, just my opinion.
