    Hi Everyone,
I am 11 months new to trucking industry and need advice from you all.

I am planning to buy T600 KW, ISX cummins 450, 3.55 rear, 2007, under 750k, 13 speed EFuller. what do you guys think?

Is it worth travelling 700 miles to get that truck? coz they are rare.

What things should I be looking at? What tests should I do, OIL sample test, Dyno test. any suggestions? Should I bring a mechanic along with me to dealership.

Some trucks are cheaper than the others, with almost same mileage, same specs but with different dealership. Do you guys think they are charging more because it is a big shop? How much would you guys buy that truck for?

I heard that usually after 700k miles, truck needs to be redone, its motor, rear ends, transmission needs to be redone. How true is that?

Generally after buying, are we supposed to spend some money on the maintenance right away. If yes, how much?

I really appreciate all your feedbacks.
    thx

wow, first of all not be mean but are you sure your ready to own a truck ? new to the industry, little experience. owning your own set up is huge under taking lots to know starting with the industry.

If you are planning to take loads in and out of California I don't think the 2007 truck will meet the standards. The deadline for registering out of spec trucks has already passed, and even if you have registered the deadline for getting a new engine or adding a $10K filter will be 1/1/14. If you are going to use the truck anywhere BUT California then it could be a good truck. The California situation is what is driving down the cost of older trucks.

If it were me I'd have at least $10K-$20K in reserve for immediate mechanical and tire issues.

I agree upto some extent, but driving for someone is not enriching my experience either. If someone (OO) is giving me employment and making money of me, why not try if myself.

If the history of this truck is a fleet truck and it has 700K miles on it, the fact that it has two owners raises a question in my mind. Usually a fleet truck will be sold with 500K miles. Second owner has only 200K miles. I'm wondering if the truck has "issues" that prompted the second owner to dump it or whether there were other circumstances behind the decision to sell it? If you can take a trusted mechanic to check it out I think that would be money very very well spent, in addition to oil analysis and a dyno.

only you can really decide if you go that far to buy a truck.

it looks to be in good shape, problem is in this area used is still high demand so the price fits the area.

I have a truck just like this one, only differences color and engine.
the only things I had issues with to look for shackle bushings and steering gear box leaked on top took 3 trys before a shop found the right o-ring.

if you have the ability to a mechanic with you do it,if they are trustworthy.
