1500 miles a week! Should I look elsewhere as my first company?

G Man ... During May's slow freight time in Winter some drivers got very low miles while others did ok.

Its a game of chance, it all depends where you are in the country.

I sat 12 days last month with a student on board, but I'm not bashing may. I save my money when freightt is good so if I sit I'm not worried bout money.

I get the economy dictates freight. 12 days with a student? I would go stir crazy. I'm in Camarillo CA. Does that help or hurt? I could be from Colordo too? Which would be better. Money is not my motivation. I got money. I want the best possible starter company for me. I'm still troubled by the drop yard in Colton, 109 miles from Camarillo where I will be staying. Ouch. I've been averaging a little slightly over 10k miles a month. Which I'm happy with at my payscale I was averaging over 12k in the summer months but the winter months brought my average down.

Yea it sucked believe me,i was on edge and ready to quit. But I received a great offer within the company I couldn't refuse so now I stay. I'll prob never leave may to go to another otr company only to go local because I get treated good, and higher on the totem poll then most even the guys with 10plus years experience. All they seem to do is complain and I ask them why are you still here. No one is forcing you to stay.

My miles will be less on this new thing I'm on now but thats ok with me. Never go by miles in a week. Judge your miles by how many you get a month because loads run over so you might only get 2k one week but the next week is 4500

Good advice. What is this new thing your on? What's the process to become a trainer with May? I'm interested in giving back once I have some time and experience under my belt.
