In Cali, While most of the state is good to go with a standard 48, you really need to check your location for restrictions.
Some areas have odd restrictions, like 38 ft KP to RA, or 45ft trailers, or tandems only, no spreads. -
No, it's 40' for sure http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/traffops/trucks/routes/truck-routes.htm
Some state highways are limited to 65' overall, as are some municipalities. As long as you stay on a federal highway you are fine with the axles to the rear on a 48' trailer.
My attitude is that I'm fine anywhere as long as I don't get caught.Rugerfan Thanks this. -
I was gonna say im pretty sure its 40'. no matter what

My rig is not legal in Cali. Just too long. I don't get there enough to afford the permit.

How do figure too long? I can leaglly run most of the state and I'm 75 foot, bumper to bumper. Can't run a few roads, but can most. Got friends that are 14 foot longer than me that can run the same roads.
