Never once pulled into a scale when I got the green light in AR, and I pulled tanker thru there 3 times a week. Nobody ever said anything.... Is that a new rule for them???. I know Ohio u have to stop no matter what, but other than that???

In AR if you run past the scale w/hazmat it is a $380 fine. We had two of our drivers found out the hard way. They usually give you the by-pass at the West Memphis scales. I believe they started that around the middle of the year last year.

AR and AZ are the only two states requiring you to stop with hazmat. Has been that way since Prepass started out. I have hauled 1.1 explosives through all these states for multiple years. Only Arkansas and Arizona require pacarded loads to stop.

Ohio has signs stating that placard loads must enter scale. Be nice if AR and AZ had them but it is up to us as professional drivers to know the rules.

Pay attention to what is written in the Prepass site.
Ohio and West Virginia:
An Alliance for Uniform Hazmat Transportation license is required if
hauling hazardous materials/waste. Follow in-cab signal.
Disregard state signs to pull into weigh station.
We don't stop, unless the Prepass gives a red light, period.drvrtech77 and RickG Thank this. -
The part of that Prepass link I find interesting is Maryland. If red-lighted on the Pre-Pass you MUST go on to the static scale even if you get a bypass arrow once in the scale. I went thru a MD scale once when red-lighted and saw a (rather small) sign to that effect, but it didn't actually dawn on me what the sign was telling me to do until I was merging back on to the interstate.

I learned but I guess it is wrong now, That if you get a sign "Truck Pull In" That is the Scale Master pulling you in to look at your blood shot eyes!! And to check that you have valve stem covers on that side of the truck!!
I was taught this but that is all.

I've come to see that most are PrePass sites. The signs typically say, "Follow In-Cab Signal"... I always follow that, regardless what the sign says at the scale house. No problems...
-
Unless you are placarded, in Arkansas and Arizona. They will chase you down.

About a month ago I had someone interviewing that had been ticketed several times in AR for bypassing scales with placard load and he insisted that he had a green light so he was allowed to follow in-cab signals. I could let one violation pass but to have it happen multiple times that just tells me he is too dumb to learn or is more interested in proving a point at his and his carriers expense.
