Might also try Paschall Truck Lines in Murray, KY.
Free if you work for them a year.
It's dry van. The best money is tanker or flatbed. -
I cannot add anything as I have not been to school yet. The best of luck to ya and keep us posted..

If you have previous experience, my only advice is to find a program with the shortest training period possible. For instance, Prime is like 4 plus months long while earning slave wages. It's more than over kill, plus they are taking advantage of your situation to increase their bottom line at your expense. Even if I was a newbie driver, there is no way I could go with Prime for that long and at that piss poor pay rate. That's ridiculous. Moreover, I didn't really learn anything until I was out solo alone and on my own anyway. When you are out on your own and you have to sink or swim, that's when the rubber hits the pavement and you really have to learn or else. Just remember though, don't hit anything.

Do the Community College route. You will get better education, and companies that are selective about inexperienced drivers will prefer that. My company with normally only hires with 1 yr is thinking of hiring out of a community college to feed the growth of the company. Alot of companies are seeing a drop in applicants. And the quality of drivers that went to 3 week schools, then trained by drivers with minimal experience and bad habits who was trained by someone with minimal experience and bad habits... is well.... below standard for anyone except training companies with trainers that have minimal experience and bad habits....... Do yourself a favor and start out rightTonythetruckerdude Thanks this.

Curious, will his CDL somehow miraculously be worth more than professional drivers that got their CDLs via company sponsored Driving Academies? The reality is it doesn't really matter how you acquire your CDL. All that matters is that you acquire your CDL, as a CDL is the bare minimum necessary to get your foot in the door with a training company that will then train you and put you through a year long internship so that you can matriculate into a professional driver. By the way, most of those same training companies that hire newbies with brand new CDLs are the same companies that also offer company sponsored driving academies. Go figure123456 Thanks this.

Uhm...let's not blame it all on the piss poor trainers please and I know from my own personal experience there are some extremely horrible trainers out there, but nevertheless if a driver with at least one year of experience is still piss poor, then it's much more than just his piss poor training that's wrong with that particular driver, as he is just incompetent. Not everyone is cut out to become a professional driver.Tats Man Thanks this.

Great Lakes Trucking has an upgrade program of about 160 hrs, for about $3800.00 but they are in Columbia Station and you are in Columbus. That's a bit of a haul. Course with the money you save you could stay at a local hotel...Just sayin..
