Having owned both myself2things 2 keep in mind weight & maneuverability the 379 wins in both of those depts--a fully loaded am class 379 comes in @ almost a ton less than the full sized studio&for reasons that have always escaped me--u can turn a 379(WB being close or equal)inside a w9--BUT both trucks r well built and reliable
So if buyin new(yeah I no)IMHO-it boils down to personal preference--but when buying used I would look much harder at specs and previous ownership/application&of course price--and personal preference comes in there somewhere lol
Just my $.02

Do yourself a favor.........Look at Western Star. I've owned one W900L, one 379 and one 387, all new. Peterbilt is simply over rated. Yep......they rule the show circuit that's it!! Build quality of a KW trumps any Pete any day.
Now a "Star" is in a class all to itself. The room, the way they are built, the comfort.......I could go on and on. If you are close to a WS dealer (even a FL dealer in many cases can handle warranty issues) stop by and look one over. Ten years from now when that Petermobile is in a scrap yard the WS will still be standing tall. -
Owned both and I say KW hands down. I own a 387 right now and it rides terrible vs"s a KW..

Peterbilt, IMO is the better choice, but then again I am bias.
Only you can decide, but you can't go wrong either way as they are both paccar products.

IMO, a W900L rides the best hands down....owned one.....i love the look of a pete and have driven more petes than KW's but KW has the best ride....

both trucks ride terrible. but pete is a little smoother. w9 i drove had no air bags under cab. driving over bumps was like being on a dirt road. last year i drove through nebraska just after it stormed. the highway was very terribly plowed. needless to say i was crawling along the highway with everyone blowing by me. they couldn't feel the bumps while i was breaking my ribs.
pete has storage under the bunk that goes side to side. UNDERNEATH. so you get nothing to use INSIDE. where as the w9 is the other way. more space on the floor inside. but underneath the bunk it's a compartment on both sides and in the middle it's a trunk space. just life the bed.
pete gets a little better mileage but it's more aerodynamic.
pete is 500 pounds lighter then the w9 i drove and it has a drop axle where as the w9 didn't.
pete has the exhaust in line with the cab where as w9 sticks out. (harder to back).
pete has overhead compartments above the dash. w9 had nothing.
pete has 2 shelves on one side, 1 on the other. closets on both sides. w9 had 1 closet and the other side was shelving and a door in the middle and a refridgerator compartment on both sides.
the pete passenger chair has a left armrest that's mounted behind the chair and swings down so as not to be able to crawl into sleeper. kind of like a railroad crossing swingarm. i'd like to SLAP THE IDIOT that designed that. specially since my coat hangs on the passenger chair and everytime i pull it off. the arm swings down and tangles up my coat.
