I'm new to this forum and not sure where to post this question so this thread looked like it fall under my question. I drive a 2008 KW T800 ISX 500. I want to swap out the crap ##### stock radio with an aftermarket one, But i was told i can;t because of the harness which will not work (something with havin to do with some other part of the electrical in the truck.) But I got to asking around and a guy at a CAT Dealer said if I get a voltage reducer i can do the swap. Has anyone on here done any of this on the newer KW's? And also i just have the front speakers above the dash none on the sides, anyone know the sizes of these?? Thanks For any help.

There is a internet site that makes adapters for all radios and makes of trucks, but I don't remember who it is. If the factory wiring harness is color coded, you can just make jumper wires.
I'm getting ready to replace the crap box in my 387 with a Alpine, then I'm going to replace the speakers, then add a subwoofer and a amp.
I must have my tunes.
The cover should pop right off the speaker base. Use a tape measure to measure the bracket. I would suggest good speakers, but if they are the small round style, you are not going to get much bass out of them. Get quality speaker such as Infinity, JBL, Alpine, or Rockford. anything less than $90 a pair for the smaller speakers is a waste of cash in my opinion.
Here is a good site for speakers and radios, but they won't know anything about your truck www.crutchfield.com.

i might try some jumper wires too and hook em up to see if itll work. Then we will go from there, i hate to take the chance to mess somethin up. i emailed that guy at bigrigstereo see if he can come up with something.

I've been told the KW's use the same harness as the newer (90's and up) VW cars. I haven't verified that personally but its what I'll be trying when I change my radio soon. You can get the VW harness at Wallyworld or Best Buy for around 10 bucks. I would think they would be the same on the Petes since there both made by Paccar.
