On a 5 axle we can be 80k. You can get a 10% over permit during the winter.
I should have made that clear from the start. I forget were not all from MN sometimes.
Stupid question about pulling hopper.

CO issues a permit for 97k just have to stay off interstate. That's what I run
-
With the annual ag permit in MN I run 90k on 6 axles. With the winter increase it's 99k.
-
plus 4% grey area over license so 102,900.
-
Grey area?
-
That's the allowance for portable scales, they pull you on platforms and that gray area is gone.
MJ1657 Thanks this. -
That makes sense.
I always wondered how they handled that.
I got weighed on some portables in MT right in front of the elevator I was going to pull into. The weights were quite different then what the elevators scale showed. -
As far as getting a ticket in the mail I know with log hauling 108,000 is where they can start sending you tickets after the fact (winter permit, six axle). One mill we haul to wont scale you in if you're over 103,500 though.

I've heard some guys say 88k is the magic number at the elevator.
I don't know if thats true or not though. -
Certainly not true in Iowa... Approached 100k a few times during harvest, got the green light.
