We have all our phones registered, including cell. Whenever we get a telemarketer call, I file a complaint, noting the time, date, company and number. The nuisance calls have dropped way down.

    https://www.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx

Also, If we don't recognize the phone # on the id box, we don't pick it up. If it's someone who wants to talk to us, they leave a message. If it's a telemarketer, they never do.

For the first month or two I got calls from filing agencies and from drug consortiums trying to get my business. I just told them that I was all set and hung up the phone. Also everyonce in a while I get calls from Inland Empire Industrial Supply trying to sell me tools and such. Just tell them I own the best (snap-on) and they just say oh and I hang up. Never any profanities but if I ever do they are going to hear from me as well.

  4. Sounds like "GOMBA's".
If you were an ederly human , chances are they could take real advantage of you and your cc# and go from there.
Sounds like they are amatuer Crank <Meth<addicts calling for fixes.
If you got the number , hope its legit and someone out there can assist you.
They call again , hang up , THE LONGER THEY HAVE U ON THE PHONE LINE THE MORE HARM THAT CAN BE DONE. Expecially in this day and age of electronics and techno PIRACY!

I pick up my house phone , the voice always starts selling ASAP, say "Sales call take me off the list", I hang up. Don't even give the other end a chance to talk.

Some have called here and the is then handed to me , by another and they said to me "They sounded like an old friend, like they knew you".

If I am in a good mood, I Flatulate in the phone.
In a really good mood, I carry on a converse , and they hang up.:biggrin_2551:

Inland Empire is the one!!! I just did some research of my old phone bills, and a search of that business name. It is listed in Riverside, CA with a # of 951-272-8084. The number that called me was 951-272-0000, so it's an obvious business line with multiple numbers.

Now, researching that 0000 number, I came up with these other complaints from whocalled.us:

We have received calls from this number several times but when we answer the phone their is no one that speaks to us. It is getting very irritable to us.
    2006-10-07Orlan

They have been calling us and not talking to us when we answer the phone. When we return the call it says we have reached a number that is no longer in service or temporary disconnected.
    2006-10-30Cindy Wilson

They ask for my husband but won't tell me who they are.
    2006-10-31Sandra

They call repeatedly, and when I finally answered and accused them of such, caller got angry at me and said he had never called. I asked to be placed on a no-call list, and he said he had no idea what I was talking about. I hung up on him.

Tried to sell us tools, when said not intrested i was told to stick my dick up my ###. This is not the first call from this number. I wish i knew who this is so i can report him to the fcc. Also you can not call this number back.
    2006-10-31Agneta

This message was left on call wave"
Dead bodies everywhere" in a very scary OLDER male voice.
I have the same experience as every one else....... nr no longer in service
    2006-11-01Rick

Received a call from this number...asked if I could help him and he swore at me and said I sure can help him and then he hung up.
    2006-11-01greg

we had a call from this number for more than ten times. they were repeatedly asking for a nine year old boy and owing money for unpaid tools.
    2006-11-03Edith

    They left a nassty message.
    2006-11-07eder

they kept saying my last name and guessing first names all male.. I just hung up and they called right back but I did not answer. very strange
    2006-11-10Chris

recieved several calls from this number and someone would just hang up when i answered. When I called back there was a message saying number was not a working number. So I got another call and finally there was a voice on other end. They asked if this was CWLogistics (the name of my business) and when I answered yes they hung up! I called back and got the same message. Who the hell is this calling me, and what kind of scam are they running?
    2006-11-16Holly

"Lance" has called a handful of times. He asks for my husband by name and refuses to speak to me when I ask him what it is in regards to. I have told him that whatever he is trying to sell, my husband isn't buying. This does not deter him. When I try to call the number back, it says it is disconnected or no longer in service. This is obviously some type of scam, but I am wondering if it is a cloned phone to which the original has been shut off and that's why we can't return the call.

this guy has called several times asking for our business by name. Tonight, he was quite ugly & said some perverted things to me & hung up. We called the # back & a lady answered & said this is her personal # & someone is using it & costing her alot of money. She asked us to report this incident to our phone company & call Patricia Ramos #925-823-1453. Please be kind if this happens to you & report this & try to help this lady in CA.
    2006-11-29Joanna

This number calls then as soon I answer the phone, they hang up!
    2006-12-06The MAN

Caller asked for my company name then hangs up. Funny they called my new cell phone (1day old) and asked me this question. New cell carrier is Verizon. Anyone else have similiarities?
    2006-12-21Cathryn

I just got a call from this number and I heard what sounded like a sigh and then a grumble of some sort from a man's voice (older man I would guess). Then someone just hung up. :(
    2006-12-21Amy

We have received several calls from this number usually at night. I finally answered and they asked if this was **** our business name, and then asked how I was and that I sounded fine. He then asked for my husband ( the head man) is what he said. I told him he wasn't here and he said Thanks and hung up. I called the number back and it had been disconnected.

ANSWERING MACHINE CAME ON AND CALLER HUNG UP.
    2007-02-23Luis

Try calling the number back, it has a phony machine that says this phone number has been disconnected or no longer in service.
    2007-03-13Amy

It did not take me long to find this company. It is Inland Empire Ind Supplies. Thier direct number is 951-272-8084. Their toll free number is 800-219-7790. Feel free to call an harrass them should you feel the need! They call our home at all hours and when I answer, they are digrading and curse up a storm. I am in the process of filing a compliant with the phone company about them. 1-800-348-8727 is the number to file a complaint for harrassment. Dial #0#0 to go directly to an operator.
Lets work to get them shut down. Many complaints on the at bbb.org.
    2007-03-16Rick

I've received a few calls from this number. Sometimes they just hang up. Today the male voice asked "Hi, do you still work on your equipment? You are a trucking company right?" I told him I was filing a complaint and he hung up. Guess the CA desert heat is too much for some weaker of the species.
    2007-03-29Gloria Thayer

Asked for my husband, did not want to talk to me nor say what they want. Did not identified himself and hanged up. I called *69 and called back to receive a message that the number is being disconected or not longer in service.????? The man just called from that number. What is going on?

Beargator, you can turn that list over to the police and file for harrassment. I did that a few years back because I was getting DOZENS of calls a day from an anonymous number for weeks. They tracked down a company in Minnesota and issued a cease and desist. The calls stopped! Best thing you can do, though, is not pick up. Let the machine deal with it, Then you have a record of the harrassment.

    http://800notes.com/

This is a good website for looking up those anonymous numbers and finding out what others are saying. Just put in the number and you'll find out who it is and see comments about them.

We don't get many calls since we went on the Do Not Call list, but of the ones we do, a fair amount are from Canada. They are not bound by the US do not call law.

That's not my list. That's from a similar phone site like the one you provided. All those complaints are from other people. I've just had very similar experiences. If I had taken notes on every call, there would be that many.

The problem with not answering the phone, is that I handle business calls. I can't just not answer the phone if I don't recognize the number. Although, I have placed an anonymous call blocker on my line now. They will get a message that tells them to call from an unblocked phone.

The thing is, this last time wasn't an anonymous call. The number came through with a city, but without a name. This is what I usually see from wireless (cell) calls.

From most of the phone complaints I have read on the internet, many of them have problems getting the police to do anything.

I used to love getting telemarketing calls but, sadly, I don't get them anymore. I think I must be on some sort of Do-Not-Call-This-Guy-He-Is-A-Psycho list.
    :biggrin_25523:
I had all kinds of fun seeing how long I could keep them on the phone... making THEM hang up on me. After I'd have 'em on the line for a while, I'd pull out the big guns...

Tele-dork: So can I have your credit card number?

Me: So... what are you wearing?

    Tele-dork: Huh?

Me: What are YOU wearing? I'm naked and touching myself in a bad way!

    Tele-dork: Excuse me?

Me: You sound hot. Wanna come over?

They'll hang up immediately, and nine times out of ten, won't call back. Works every time!

Another one is what I call "The excited lottery winner". No matter what they're saying or trying to sell, start screaming:

"Oh my god! I won!!! Holy fecal-matter!!! I've never won anything!!!"

Then proceed to holler to your wife in the background: "Hey Margaret... we just won a million dollars!"

They'll be saying, "Sir, you didn't win anything". But just ignore them--keep screaming about the fabulous prize you've won. They'll hang up eventually.

    I remember that well!!!

As for phone numbers, I am not above putting in a bogus number. The DOT isn't going to call you. They will send you an official letter.

I don't give out my phone numbers. Nobody official will ever use it. Besides I don't use a land line anymore, we are all cellular so it's one more reason to not give the right number if you don't need to
