443 mile a rounder. I can do the run in 10.5 hours if I don't get hung up in traffic in North Van

So $300 a day roughly. I guess if it suits you and yer happy with it then thats all that really matters. There is alot better out there for those who chase the money. I put in a 13 hr day today running a total of 96 miles and my truck made $15.10 a mile, but our industries vary greatly. I dont go home every night, but for the size of my paycheques, I am quite happy living in my truck for 8 days at a time n then off for 4. I dont deal with traffic, only pull 1 trailer, and pretty well make my own schedule for 8 days at a time. I am out here for the money, not an easy life, but everybody has their own gig.

The difference is though, you are an owner op and I am a company driver. I turn off the key and go home. My truck breaks and I make a phone call and get paid $25 an hour to wait, etc. I would eventually like to be an owner op, just not yet.

    $300.00 / 67 = 448 miles a day.

Sorry guys, please excuse my naivety. The figures many are putting (6k, 7k a month) is that working for a trucking company and driving THEIR truck or is this your wage working as an O/O with your own truck?

    bobbyt Thanks this.

Thanks Imnuts. I must be doing calculations incorrectly. I'm very new to the industry and i'm looking at buying a used truck, employing a driver and having my truck with a carrier company as an O/O. I've been getting companies offering $1.45 a mile with approx 10k miles a month....some saying up to 20k miles but i don't see how thats possible with one driver. Cost of fuel is working out to be approx 57% of the income and with other costs here and there i'm only able to pay my driver around $4500 a month. This is Canada wide btw. What do you reckon? am i on the right track here or is something flawed in my calcs? Your input would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
