P.A.M. Transport Question Or Really For Any Truckdriver

I am starting in the classroom with Driver's Solutions/C1 in Indianapolis on Monday. I have been reading a lot of threads where students, once they get with trainers, sometimes have to run into Canada. I do not, currently, nor have I ever, had a passport. Is this something that I should be thinking about getting right now, so I can have it when I do go out with my trainer, in case of runs to the border, or is P.A.M. not going to run students across the border? Any thoughts would be appreicated and thanks in advance.

 

Okay. I don't want to keep my trainer from getting a load because of me. I was reading the government's website for passports. Besides making my head hurt, I saw on there where you can get a card now, instead of the book if you are going to Canada. Is that all I need then, because like all noobs I am on a tight budget and the card is significantly cheaper?

 

Okay. Thanks for the help. I will check out the enhanced liscense. I think I am going to get my passport anyways because when I get out on my own, I want to get as many loads as I can, and if I can get into and out of Canada might help me get a load over someone that doesnt have one. Thanks for the info. I didn't know the correct term. I just didn't want there to be any hangups for my trainer or keep him from getting a nice load because I didn't get my passport.
