How often do you grind?

... has anyone arrived at home, got in their stick shift car, and attempted to shift like you are still in the truck?

That seems to happen to me every now and then. The neighbor kids get a kick out of the "professional driver" grinding the teeth of second gear....

 

Yup.
Heck I even find myself reaching for the Jake switch.

 

Lol! It took me a while to keep from getting in my Jetta and trying to slam the clutch pedal through the fire wall! Then I would try to slip a gear or start in third, then go for the range selector and try for another gear.....ready for bed at that point. And yup, look for jake switch, marker interrupt, you name it. Muscle memory is a hard habit to break.

One day I can get into an unfamiliar truck and shift all day no problem. Next time I'll have a regular truck and can't shif to save my arse! But the worst grinding occurs when I get tired and near the end of the day or night typically.

 

I try to skate at truck stop as much as possible. Sometimes you will find things to grind. I'd say probably twice a month you'll find a really good rail or curb.

 

He he he. It a whole new generation in them big trucks these days....

Back in the day, it was a Vision Gator for me. I'm guessing that was a little before your time.

 

I grind at least once a day whether I need to or not just for old time sake,lol

 

I drove a 10 speed and a N14 460 cummins for years got so used to it when I got my new truck with a cat and a 13 I ground all the time till i remembered to shift at 14-1500

other than every now and then I don't grind
