Don't worry about it, just do your job and preplan your route as much as you can. It's just another city and not as big as L.A. or some of the others.

Stay off the Parkways. PLAN what route you are going to take. Know your directions like the back of your hand. I would use Google Maps to get a good view of where you are going, and combine that with directions from the shipper (take what they say with a grain of salt though...most of them drive cars, if they drive anything at all). Really do your homework. Stay on your toes because the Northeast is not truck friendly at all.

Slide your tandems all the way forward, lot of tight turns there, bring cash for tolls if you don't have i-pass,stay focused on your directions, with all construction and heavy traffic it's easy to get distracted and its not that easy to turn around if you miss your exit

LA is a dream compared to NYC or Chicago. I remember once after dropping in Hunts Point I got on one of those toll roads in the opposite direction I was wanting to go and wasted like $25 in tolls.:cwm10:

Watch your signs very carefully. If you miss a turn, it isn't always easy to get back to whre you want to be. Roads are narrow and it can be tight getting around. Be mindful that trucks are not welcome in all areas. Roads were origiinally built before the wider and longer trucks, so it is sometimes more challenging to get around. Get out your map and know where you are going.

When i went to Long Island, my Mcnally gps was basically lost, i had to use my Florida metro pcs phone to get me there. Ironically this cell phone had no gps signal from Illinois, west. take lots of cash and be carefull with sight seeing. First time there, you forget you are trucking in New York and think you are a turist, then you realized you just past your exit!
