There are a lot of small minded people in these big trucks keep that in mind. Going with a bigger company will probably be your best bet they tend to be more vigilant in regards to potential discrimination issues.

ok...I see where you are going with this. Now I would suggest that when you talk to the headhunters at the companies tell them that you are gay and that you would like to be paired with someone with an open mind or even with a female trainer. Getting along with your trainer is way better than having to fire them and get another trainer. That can lead to issues with dispatchers etc....( of course you will be told it's not a problem, but it will be). Before giving too much personal info to ANYONE make sure they are agreeable to subject matter. And remember one more thing...you will be out there to learn how to drive a big truck not make friends......after a few weeks with your trainer the company is going to run you guys like a team so while one is driving one will be sleeping....I wish you good luck and success

Its not a very personal life if you are talking about it. Keep it to yourself and things would work out better for everyone. After training and passing go on your way and enjoy your life.

Not to be mean towards any one but many people don't care about who you are unless you make a big deal about who you are. Although I understand your concern, I would keep your personal life out of the cab even if you were straight. As mentioned business is business and having it intertwine into your personal life can cause you some grief.

I totally agree. Hell I put up with a trainer & another trainee in my truck just so I wouldn't have to wait a few extra weeks. But putting up with crap is part of the job -- being forced to pretend to be something youre not (or hide who you are) isn't.

So yeah, the op will likely have an easier go of it if he just goes with the flow and pretends to be straight. But he shouldn't have to.
