Not everyone is bad out there. If I was a trainer, race, religion, sexual preference or gender would make no difference to me. There are plenty of nightmare stories on here of trainers going home and forcing trainees to stay in the truck and woman facing sexual harassment, etc. Those cases you ask for another trainer if you are abused. Other than that look at the situation as the trainer as the captain of the ship and you do what they say with in reason. 95% of them are there to do a job and that's train.

Stay away from these companies that make trainers out of trainees.

Find a local driving school and get the license. Then inquire with HR in the companies you want to go with. This is not a hard concept.

A post on e harmony.com would have gotten you better results. The overwhelming majority here suggest you don't ask, don't tell. Do your job and forget about sexual preferences. That's the way its supposed to work. You can't be discriminated against if there is nothing known to discriminate. I don't flaunt the fact that I'm straight why should you flaunt the fact that you are gay?

When I was in training I did'nt discuss my personal life.I was there to learn how to drive trk.Bryan don't like some of the responses here and was hoping everyone would be on the same page. But that just isn't going to happen.

Gotta chime in here....... The O/P can correct me if im wrong... But I think (after deciphering "gay friendly" lol) all he was trying to do see if there are any trainers that wont "mess with him" (give him unnecessary crap, disrespectful, etc etc etc)

Maybe where YOU come from everyone accepts everyone for who they are..... but in some places (not to mention in a closed confined space of a truck) people can get REAL NASTY. All dude wants to do is learn how to drive a truck with the least amount of BS that some of us dish out on a daily basis (withOUT even knowing it half the time)

(to the O/P: PLEASE forgive the following terminology im about to use, i don't mean to offend you or any gay person)

If the O/P has a "flaming" personality his trainer will know it before he even steps foot in the truck, and however the trainer responds moments after upon meeting the O/P will be about the same way he's gonna be treated in the truck

If the O/P has a more "normal" (again im sorry) personality then the only possible way for the trainer to even "know" is if its brought up in casual conversation.... so i say, the O/P has a choice: If he's "flaming" he can "risk" maybe waiting a little longer for a trainer that will take him........... or he can kind of "hide it" the best he can (with trying to start a new career as his motivation for being "phony") ....... OR if he's a lil more "normal" (personality wise) all he would have to do (to ensure no possible drama) is shy away from sexual preference, race and religion topics of discussion (but then what else is there to talk about it? lol)

Point is i think the O/P has a legitimate concern considering he'll be LIVING with this trainer for small period of time, and the amount of gay bashing that goes on 24/7 365 days a year all over this country

Good luck to the O/P on getting his CDL (did he say what school he's going to?) I wish him the best of luck, hopes he gets all his endorsements, and doesnt get bashed at all ...I would also suggest asking for a female instructor, (if possible)

    good luck
