Ask the cop wheres a safe place you can park due to the hazzardous conditions of the roadway. Afterwards, drive with caution to the new location. Thats the best advice anyone can give you.

And even if there weren't any signs posted, a lot of towns have ordinances prohibiting truck parking in lots like that.

Husband had 3 hrs left of a 34hr and had to move, he was parked in a wide, concreted area off the road and the state po po didn't like it. It happens and not much you can do but move.

"Safe harbor" is a secure spot for Class 1 hazmat to park unattended . It has nothing to do with driving when out of hours . That excuse will prevent your safety department from finding you in violation of company policy but it holds no weight with the DOT . If it turns up in an audit the carrier will be cited .

Even with ordinances I think there have to be signs posted somewhere .

I would have told the cop I needed him to sign a statement he was ordering me to drive in those conditions .
