Ok I am about to get a new CB. Either getting the Galaxy 33, Connex3300, or the General Lee. What is the best out of the 3? All are the same price from the cb shop I am going to get them from. He told me they were all basically the same as far as power, recieve, ect. Is it just a personal preference between the 3 or does one stand out above the rest.

Thanks for the help and be safe out there drivers.

If there is any difference between the 3 it's next to nothing except layout of the front panel
switches maybe.. I have worked on thousands of these and I don't know that I any preference to me they are all the same chassis and depending on when they were manufactured as to what type of Finals they may have MOSFETS or 2sc1969's.. If I had to choose one or be beheaded at the Guillotine I would choose the General Lee or General Washington. If these units are properly tuned and aligned by some one with real knowledge they will perform very well as would the Galaxy or Connex..

i have found that over the years, there is just something special about the general lee. when properly tuned, that is one of the loudest radios i have ever owned and heard. they will drive the living you know what out of a small linear.

be sure to get the model that has the variable power already installed. good luck.

They are basically the same on the inside so it does not matter which one you buy. One will work no different from the other!

I have a Connex 3300Hp, but if I was buying a new radio I would buy the Gen Lee. They are all equal on the inside, but the Gen Lee is a one step process to change bands whereas the Connex (at least my old Connex) is a two step process. (I switch to the lower channels whenever I meet a company truck)

all 3 of those have the same chassis, same board, etc, the only diff is there is a little diff layout of the switches. all 3 of these come from ranger and are the same inside, just 4 or 5 years ago they were different but now with rangers hand in that corner of the market, there are a lot more radios that are similar. look at them and pick which 1 suits you as far as the layout of the controls. I see you are from Memphis, you wouldn't by chance be looking at them @ rays electronics?

The new Connex 3300fhp has push button band selection one step but, I prefer a dial like the Magnum S series has.

With the 3300fhp once in a while when running with someone I would realize they were quiet for a bit, I would look up at the radio and it would be on band E. Don't know how that happened because I never went near it. That's why I prefer the dial.

I am looking at getting one from the cb shop on I30 in prescott.. The "one stop cb shop" he is about $50 cheaper then Rays for the same radio. However I am going to check and see what all he does to the radio or if thats just out of the box and not tuned up. If thats the case then I will be getting it from Rays

well I can say this you will not be disappointed with 1 ready to go from rays, ray puts each 1 on an oscilloscope and tunes them for a good, clear, even sound, wont splatter all over the channels and some other little things you wont get anywhere else, including his patented relay talkback that evens out the talkback, stabilizes it and insures you wont have any issues with adding a amp or talkback issues some of those were known for with age. mike5511 knows what I am talking about. just my .005 opinion. good luck with which ever 1 you get, and remember the old rule-you get what you pay for.

    mje and mike5511 Thank this.
