Sounds like you're in room #6, my old room. Best one in the house.

Yep, all rooms have sheets/blankets/towels/washcloth and a tiny soap.
OK, on the wi-fi thing: if it stops working, turn off the power switch on the modem for a few seconds, then back on. It should reset and work fine. The modem is the silver/gray thing sitting on the computer in the drivers room. Switch is on the back at the very bottom. Seems we had to do that at least once a week. -
Thats the one!!! #6. Thanks for the info bout the Wi-Fi.

Well, I survived Day 1, mostly classroom with a little shiftying practice. We have about 20 students in the class, half are 10'dayers and the other 10 are 30 dayers. Today we only had 3 tractors to use, but rumor has it we will have more tomorrow. So far everyone seems to picking up on the shifting, tomorrow we go out on the road with "bobtails". I'll try to let you know how it turns out...later.

I'm Alive!!!!!
Spent all day til 4pm going over the company and the equipment, some movie and then we went and got our first ride in a truck. We have just been practicing in the yard, but I learned how to down shift first...yep I do almost everything backwards
Then I learned how to not grind the gears so much on the upshift. All in all it really isnt as hard as I thought it would be. Now watch all that will go away tomorrow when the instructor is sitting next to me. All the company drivers here say that this is really the best school. They say I should know how and be very comfortable driving when we graduate. So far two thumbs up!! Oh and my husband he feels the same way.. very excited and he is getting the hang of it.

This is very true! I'm a 10 day'er in the same cycle and I have talked to several drivers now that have been here anywhere from 8 months to several years and I don't hear anyone complaining about ANYTHING! That's trulely a good sign!

Day 4, and we are all still here. We spent two days bob-tailing to Superior and back taking every exit and on ramp practicing our down shifting and upshifting. This school has been good at teaching just a little each day and then adding a new diminsion a little at a time, pretty soon you are surprising yourself. Yesterday we pulled empty 53' trailers around the same route, it started snowing pretty good at the end of the day, so we got a little experience in winter driving. Next week we start backing and taking longer road trips. All-in-all I am very impressed.

Day 7, So far eveything is still going well. We pulled empty trailers through downtown Missoula today, that wasnt too bad. Tomorrow we are going to pull loaded trailers up the mountains and learn to shift up and down the mountain, which is taboo for most people. So far we havent lost any students and everybody seems to be doing well. Maggz and Anthony say "HI".

Hi everybody,
I've been a lurker for a few months.
I got my CDL through a 6-month course at All-State Career in Philadelphia, PA.
This forum has been very useful in researching companies and the industry. I start the 10-day orientation with Watkins & Shepard on Jan 14th out of the Sayreville, NJ terminal. So far I'm the only one in the class, which should be interesting. I hope we go into NYC.
