I smell that there is something missing out of this story.
I do not currently work for USA Truck, but I have worked for them in the past. If my truck didn't sit completely for 10 hours I did not receive a call. As long as your times match up on your logs you are good; fuel, tolls, etc...
You not being routed "home" is your fault, you gave in. The dispatcher can only do so much as the load coordinators are the ones who put the loads on you unless your dispatcher can snatch one off early enough on the load board.
You can use the tolls in Ohio and Indiana. I have many times before and they never "charged me" by taking it out of my pay. They will not pay for tolls in Kansas or Florida, unless under certain circumstances. One time I had a hot load of rubber for a tire manufacturer and the only way to be on time was run the tolls in Kansas. I told my dispatcher that and he got it approved and I paid up front cost, but they did reimburse me 100% of the tolls I paid.
I also left without a notice, they left nothing negative on my DAC.
I'm not calling you a liar or anything, but I just don't see you telling us the full story as many drivers out there don't.

I worked for USA in 2010 and it's exactly as the OP described. I went to a week of orientation , then back on a Greyhound to Indianapolis to pick up my truck. It wasn't where it was supposed to be, so after spending hours waiting, I took another cab to where it had been towed to. It was trashed and it was only 1 year old! It was not even safe to drive so I refused to go under a load until it was fixed.
Long story short, 5 months was all I could stand of this outfit and I was so gone..
Stay away from USA.. -
All I can say is I picked my current student up at Atlanta and his car is parked there, no problems. I know what you said about the 10 hr violation is true. But never heard of a 15 min infraction getting that much attention unless there were other things to go with it.
Don't know what to think about the rest, but something just doesn't seem right. Hope you are doing better elsewhere.
Oh yeah, I've used Ezpass everywhere it is taken including Ohio and Indiana. Never has it been taken out of my paycheck.Last edited: Apr 14, 2013

Well I drive for USA and most of what is said in OP's statement is true EXCEPT, they do not hold $$ from our paychecks to run the toll roads in OH or IN. Thats just bs. They do not however pay for tolls in Kansas or Florida. The reason is there are different truck routes you can take that wont require toll roads. So if u take those tolls be expected to pony up the $$. As far as DOT telling USA they can no longer use PRE PASS, we'll that is true. They did.
And the OP stated they threatened to tow his car if he parked in Georgia terminal, he also forgot to mention that, that particular terminal is the smallest one. It's so small you even have to drop your trailer to fuel because there isn't enough space in the yard to fuel with you trailer hitched. So yeah I could see where they would say that because they need all the room they can get for their own trucks.
All in all though. USA has treated me fairly decent so far. So far I've just done my job, and they leave me alone. No complaints here -
The OP stated his orientation was in Feb yet he was here 3 months. Hmm I can see where the logging problems were since at the time of his posting 3 months haven't gone by yet.
A lot of outlaw drivers come to USA thinking since we are still on paper they can do that here too. But as the OP said, you don't get away with it.
The quality of the trucks is not as bad as he would like you to believe, but could definately improve. The miles are a lot better for those of us that follow the rules than those that don't.
But thanks for posting this warning, maybe it will keep other outlaws from applying and then complaining. At least that's how I'm reading this.HardlyWorkingNeverHome Thanks this. -
