Think of it this way, if you have the miles to run today you should run as many as you can today. There's no guarantee that you'll get the miles tomorrow anyway. If you save the hours. What you should do is minimize the amount of hours that are wasted as "on duty" and use up as much of your 70 as drive time that you can. Now, if you think you're going to run into traffic or you're just tired and need a break, then yeah, stop after 7 hours. But otherwise run the miles you can today and if you have to take a 34 that means you were busy as hell for the week anyway
Need experience advice on 70/34

I guess when the new hours rule kicks in you won't be able to stretch out the 70 hrs anyway.
-
I understand your dilemma. But creature comforts need to be addressed before hire on. I wouldn't dare work solo for Schneider now.
-
call SEM on that. CPAP cpmpliance is a big deal. They shoudl get you a room or a set of new batteries.
-
yep, talk him into that. Its not your license or job.
-
Don't exceed 8.75 hours (driving and on duty combined) a day and you'll never run out of hours.
-
Also, if you want to save as much of your 70 as you can when you're doing a live load/unload change status to sleeper berth. When fueling obviously you have to be on line 4 but when you're done fueling and you want to go into the store switch yourself to line 1. Also, do like that other poster mentioned. If you're in town with many stop lights switch to off duty and just drive. Eventually the Qualcomm will switch back to line 3 automatically.

Sorry but do not follow this foolish advice. Lets say you are doing this and another vehicle hits you, you get knocked out or are hurt. When DOT investigates the accident guess the 1st thing they check...YOUR LOGS...now when they see that you are on Line 1...guess who is now 100% at fault, is going to get numerous tickets, can almost promise will no longer have a job, and have a serious mark on YOUR CSA that could easily prevent future employment!!!Airbus Thanks this.

the best to way is to properly manage your time(s) on all Lines. running constantly will eventually burn you out!!!

Yeah. Don't run constantly. Take a break every couple hours then you can start ######## about low miles and low pay!
