Hi, im new to this forum and i have two weeks of school left. Im considering going team with usxpress for at least my first year and i want to make decent money. Could anyone that has worked there either team or solo give me a ballpark estimate on what annual salary i could expect. their website says 48 cent a mile with hazmat but im not sure what the average miles are. I am ready to stay out for several weeks if i need to to get good miles. thanks in advance for any responses.

company team avg. is about 5,000 miles, bty that's only avg. 714 miles a day.... some do better some don't, 5,000 miles @ .44cpm each driver will make $1.100 before tax...... I know teams running close to 7,000 miles almost every week and others are running 4,500 miles a week.....our last 2 years as company drivers our avg. was 6708 miles a week..
as a team to make money you really need to stay out 3+ weeks, most stay out 4-5 weeks the reason is the week you go home and the week you came back out will be short weeks and if you get home on a WED. and leave on MON. you will have no check the next week and will owe them so the next weeks check you start out in the hole.... always something to think about when planning your home time.....
how much will you make your 1st year well if you never went home and didn't breakdown and ran the avg. 5,000 miles a week about $57,000 per tax but that's not going to happen... you will go home and every time you do that is $600-$1400 less, you will breakdown avg. 4 days each time that's $500 less each time (we were broke down 6 weeks in 2 months one time), a oil change can take 6hr's or at the wrong terminal can take 3 days
I was a usx company driver solo/team for 7 years and am a O/O with usx solo/team for the last 2 years.... I/we have had bad times and good times but we're been happy with them for 9 years and have no plans at this time of leaving..MMM DRIVER and crabcracker Thank this. -
@flood... What was the avg miles for you during your run as solo company driver?
-
my 1st dispatcher and I hated each other, couldn't even talk on the phone and she ran me 3,200 miles every week... my next dispatcher ran me as hard as I wanted.... if I only wanted 2,000 miles one week and 3,500 the next that's what I did... that IS NOT THE NORM...
I think the company solo avg. is around 2,400 but i'm not sure as I havn't been a company solo for 5 years and the gig I have as a O/O is not the same as company truckscrabcracker Thanks this. -
thanks Flood, i have another question if you dont mind. how did you get a teammate, did you go with your spouse or do they assign someone to you who is compatible. My main goal is to better my financial situation so i can survive with just about anyone but it would be best if i could get along with my teammate and have someone who is safety conscious and likes to get miles.

Ask some of the people in your orientation class. There are always a few looking for a teammate. Plus, on the bulletin board at the terminal. My orientation class had a few females looking for teammates. Worked out well because there was a female driver from the previous orientation hanging around still looking for a teammate.
crabcracker Thanks this. -
I run team with my wife

You will run team with another student by your choice after upgrade or they will assign you one that lives nearby you. This is so both of you can take your home time together. Then after 8 weeks you have an option of continuing team or solo depending on where you reside. I luckily met my team in one of the terminals and it has worked out well.
