I know what's going on...your planners are trying to do the communist truck planning and you are a capitalist driver. Communist truck planning is when the planners try to balance all the loads so all their drivers make around the same amount of money. Slacker left out the day before you with the same load. Now they have to give you the load they had for Slacker.

Get in touch with the fleet owner. They are the FM's boss. My FM doesn't micro-manage anything. He just gives me the loads and I run them.

Not only that, it alerts the customer that they're being jacked around when they're told that it takes 3 days to get that load from point A to point B, but the motivated driver gets it there in 2 days. :)

I am a driver with USX i have been with them for a little over a year now, and i will tell you what i have found out. Even if you do get a new FM most of the newbies are 20-25 years old have never sat in a truck little on know anything about driving one, and will cower at what ever their boss screams at them to do. Im could have requested a new FM myself but i just dont see the point, a new fm is not going to change the fact that this company needs to find where they started, the sliding pay scale is bs, and everytime i am out of hrs and try to shut down for a 34 they want me to run and start threatening to not give me my HT if i dont blah blah blah. I ran 3550 miles last week and got 700 dollars, and that is the 2nd best check i have had in the year i have been here, the first was 900 when i ran ran teams. i have tried myself to talk to my fm but all they care about is the load, and so i put in my two week notice yesterday (friday 04-12-13) i live in the truck and have 150 dollars a months in bills and for the last month i have not had money to pay my bills. going back my last 4 checks, the first was 95 dollars with 411 miles, (oh that is also when they said they felt i needed to run more. Ya f**king think!) next check, 125 dollars, and the check after, 400 dollars, and now this check for 700. If your just coming out of school i would say come here if you want, they will show you how bad a company can be then after you year alot of other companies wont look half as bad as USX.

Maybe not. We have a driver we call Captain Slow. Takes him 3 days to run 500 miles. Never hits anything, never wrecks, never on time. You get burned if you promise a customer a load and the driver putts around for days on end. 500 miles. You could literally beat him to a destination by walking backwards. Really nice guy. Stellar safety record. Probably gets excellent fuel mileage. So what the planners probably do is average out delivery times to be safe.

I wish i could say the same sammy, but when they actually gives me loads i can run 600 miles a day easy. but they always give me some crappy puddle jump load of 300 miles, and leave me sitting for the rest of the day. Or as of late have been doing great at sending me to places they are closed and then i sit for hrs waiting on them to "confirm" the load is not ready.
