Has anyone ever rented a truck from them? I started leasing a year ago when I first started driving. Bad I idea I know. But now I have a little more knowledge in how running a truck of my own and how the industry runs so I think I'm ready to give it a go again.

I'm company now and I don't like it one bit...would much prefer to run my own show, and I figure lease from someone other than a company, save up some cash and then buy my own. Anyone have any insight to this idea and Penske itself?

Penske won't lease an individual a truck.

Years ago when i had to put my rig in the shop and i rented a rig from Ryder, it was a good rate back then. I never heard these rental companies leasing that way. If thay do, it is a good idea, you dont have to worry of breakdowns. All that is covered under the lease. It's a good question.

My truck went down last fall under a load and I rented a penske to finish it. They dropped mileage rate to 11cpm and gave me the cheaper weekly rate of $750 for daycabs on a sleeper truck. Ended up paying for 3 days. Very expensive truck.

Had talked to them ( years back) . In my instance they would supply a truck and maintaince /service. For about 1600 a month. About what a payment on a new one would run. Boss was unsure of Making such long term comitment . Was buying trucks cash , used. What they always bought , we always had junk.

not true. with the carb rules coming I have researched different options, including leasing a penske truck. they willleaseto an individual however the rate is more than I care to spend. that being said, in the op particular case, he/ she may not qualify due to not having current truck ownership experience.

one more thing, do not, I repeat do not, do a paclease. the way that lease is written up prevents you from depreciating the equipment.

You won't depreciate a Penske lease either. You have your payment as an expense. They take the depreciation on the vehicle

I'll take your word for it, I never put eyes on the lease, once I got the price that ended the conversation for me. much cheaper to buy new. which as much as I hate to do it is most likely the route i'll be taking. unless the wife shoots me when I tell her I'm about to fork over that kind of cash
