Yep after delivering to Western Beef I told my Dm there would be no more NYC LOADS EXCEPT TO HUNTS PT.

 

I know for a fact Cheney reads the forumn.I never mentioned my name or truck number on this forumn,but was in his office for the usual 90 day thing and he says to me.Arent you one of the drivers on the aviary.I like your advice you give to new drivers.You guys shoot straight with the newbies,keep it up.Now he could have been just pulling my chain to get a response but I dont think so.How did he know?

 

Just a casual thought here.Like EMU says,once a buzzard always a buzzard. For you wannabe drivers out there that have questions about whether to go to Stevens for your training,The best training company in my opinion by far.I was there for over four years as a solo and a trainer.I have only fond memeries of my time there.I was treated well and received some of the best training possible,and not to mention drove the best equipment available.They made it possible for me to be with the company I now work for,and make the money I now earn.If something were to happen where Im at now I wouldnt hesitate to go back.The negatives on here are usually from people not doing what they needed to do or wouldnt do.There are exceptions,so no comments from good drivers going through rough times at Stevens.One thing I learned about Stevens is to speak up when things arent going well,be diplomatically forceful,and make things happen for yourself.Emu is on here all the time talking about drivers turning down good loads or burning loads for various stupid reasons.Dont be that driver.Run at night,be on time,run ahead,do your check calls,be proactive and the miles are there.Once a buzzard always a buzzard.I find myself wanting to wave at Stevens trucks when they are passing on the highway and then I remember Im pulling a McDS TRAILER,LOL.Good luck everybody.

 

I catch myself waving from my car, LOL. And I always notice the Stevens trucks I pass. We live near Knoxville, TN so we see quite a few!

 

you're right. but I was tired and didn't put all the effort into it, that I should. And I was being a bit tongue in cheek.

 

The nine years before I came to Stevens I was working in QC/Product Engineering dept. of a Manufacturing company. One of my main duties was figuring out acceptable tolerances, determining a method to test for them and writing a procedure for that test. That is why I look at it from an equation point.

Did not mean to start a firestorm here, I was just offering some friendly advice based on the scientific method of determining the weight. As with most things in life, advice is worth what you pay for it... mime costs you nothing so....

 

Well acceptable tolerances, repeatability, linear displays and accuracy gives us something to talk about, rather than those r.b.receivers and shippers, recruiters and the night/weekend crew.
