SRT Lease Program

Nor will you. From what I gather, you'd probably get a truck that was turned back in. Companies like that (and I am NOT sure if SRT does, I'm only saying it happens) lease trucks with promises of gold at the end of the highway. Then, before your lease is paid off, they can starve you for miles, forcing you to de-lease and turn in the truck to avoid a credit hit. It's done more than I care to hear about, for sure. People shouldn't mess around with others trying to get ahead, IMO. My advice? You've heard it a million times: "You're not gonna get rich working for the Man''. In other words, do it for YOU. You obviously know enough to look at options. Now go and do your homework. Perhaps talk to another SRT driver. Buy them breakfast, or coffee. LEARN from them, good or bad. If you need a company to use as a stepping stone to working for YOU, then do it. Notice I said "a company to USE". Do that - use them, as they will you. The only thing stopping you is you. I currently work for SRT and was doing research on their lease program and a few other companies. Got ahold of the person in charge of the lease side and she emailed me all the information I needed except for truck types and mileage etc... They have anothet company "TEL" they get their lease trucks from and lease theough. Currently there are over 80 people on the waiting list for trucks an I has been like that since I started back in December. She did not know when they would be getting any trucks in, so why have a lease program if you don't have trucks ya dig? Payments are $250 a week to $300 a week for 2-3 years with a $15,000 balloon payment at the end. Granted they do pay for a lot of your stuff like liability and cargo insurance, road and fuel tax's etc... While you pay bobtail and ezpass/prepass. Don't remember rest of the details, would hav to get online later and get in email to get them.

 

I agree completely on why have a lease program if no trucks available and no info on when they might have some. They don't push the lease program at all, if you want to lease you tell them and they put ou on the list, if not they don't mention it or push you to it. They keep you rolling pretty good though and I like their fuel network program for the company side. If you would like the information she had sent me on the lease program you can send me a PM with your email address and I can send it to you when I open my laptop tonight.

 

i applied there and they called me the next day and were like we can have you working here in less than a week lol. sounded like they were pretty desperate for drivers

 

SRT does not lease themselves, it is an outside company. mainly vovlos centurys colubias a few petes things like that. I knew a few people who did get a lease and asked me to check out the truck since they knew I was a former and now again O/o and mechanic. The trucks where nice for a slope nose...lol miles less than 400k and anything I did find wrong was fixed before signing the lease...ie if it needed a tire all new tires put on if the ac was weak it was fixed. I looked into it and had the contact info for the leasing company but decide not to since they didn't offer hoods...now I got my own rig and trailer but if SRT would take a truck as old as mine I would go back

 

No not despreite they just bought a few hundred new KW 680s

 

If you feel good about a lease purchase from the very company that controls your line-haul revenue (loads) than I have some water front property I'd like to sell you just outside the Tucson city limits.

There are way too many options out there for you to let the fox guard the hen house sort of speak. It will be like letting your ex wife or girlfriend handle your money. Yeah, you may trust her now but I know you'll lose sleep thinking about it. The first time freight slows down your gonna feel angry about who is in charge.

My advise is shop around and find a smaller dealership that will work with you on down payment or maybe you can afford to go to a regular dealership and work out the financing with no problems. Either way, leasing from the company you're hauling the freight for is a bad deal in my opinion. Not saying they are all out to screw a guy but it does happen and for more reasons that I can list here. There is some success with this out there but I'd bet many more failures overall.
