I think the ratching winch bar is too heavy to carry or lug around. I'm a little guy, probably hurt myself with something that heavy.
I use the winch add on ratchets. I have several on my trailer but been seeing them on ebay for $3 each. I had to give 12 for each of mine.

Actually, the square tube handled one I've seen at a few T/A's is lighter than the winch bars.

I have a two foot step ladder.

It takes too long putting (in/out) the locking pin at each winch. Beside of those ratcheting winch bars being heavy, I just didn't like the fact that even with the locking pin installed, it kind of has a loose movement (in all directions).

Ever see the air operated winches? I seen them at the truck show. They all tighten down together appying an exact amount of pressure.

I can't afford nothing that fancy but looked neat.

I lost my ladder today. I forgot to secure it down with a pin and now it's gone. Sure hope it didn't hit a car.

    CAXPT and MJ1657 Thank this.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one that loses things. I had that happen a couple of times. Glad nobody got hit or hurt..

Guess I'll have to build another ladder but with a better securement this time.
That is the biggest thing i've lost.

Well I have a bad habit of putting things on top of my headache rack when getting out extra chains and such. Then I forget about the items I put on top, because I can't see the top and get distracted... Getting old I guess or tunnel vision.
Lost a cordless drill in the case ,at the Nv. Ca. line lost a set of jumper cables in Or.
