I worked in Specialized out of laurenburg. I would not recommend it. I came to maverick and was told that they didnt have slots available in the US division, which I now know was a lie just to get me into specialized becasue they are hurting for people so bad. There are many accurate post by very experienced drivers on these forums regarding specialized. And they are not good. You are much better off doing some other kind of work until you can get a slot in the US Division, which is good compared to specialized. You will make much more money in the US division plus you will not go to Canada and you will be home at least twice as much. You do not want to deal with the people in specialized or the types of loads. There loads are very dangerous and there is always pressure to run illegal and more often then not you are expected to. Specialized is full of new drivers because the experienced ones are leaving or have left, in most cases. Specialized will also not let you switch to the US division if it is not for you. Recruiters will tell you that you can but they are lying. I know. If you cant wait to get started driving, simply find another company. Check out ollies "maverick in the rear view" by doing a google search. Keep us posted, Good luck

Congrats kangaroo, I hope everything goes well. Let us know how it goes.

Not with spec, That div stays out 2 weeks at a time. I get home on weekends in the US div.

I will. Thanks alot for all the best wishes and advice. Cressler, I'm taking a day to think about it. Like I said, I really wanted to go to the US division. I still have a day to decide (I gave my recruiter a recall). I don't want to make a decision quickly and regret it,
but I also don't want to lose out if a slot does come available.

what is up with the wait times in maverick anyway? i see they make people wait up to 4 months or more just to start orientation. hmm wonder if it is a plot to get us to go to specialized? i have been approved and am waiting also. just was a thought.
-
was also wandering maybe they make you wait so long to make you grateful to be there? just a thought.
-
btw i'm not saying anything bad. i am looking foreword to working for them. just like everyone else that applies to them waiting is the worst part.

Did everybody make it through the weather allright?

yea, we had major flooding here. my mom lives in monticello indiana on lake freeman. they have a dam on both sides of her and the water was going over the dam and they were worried the dams may break. they are old and haven't been worked on i guess in many years. but thank god they held otherwise my mom and many others would have lost their homes. we had 3 deaths though. one woman drove through some high water and her suv got washed away. she had 5 kids , she was able to save 3 but 2 died. also a man in his 50's drowned when he tried to leave his house. guess it could have been worse but to lose any lives is a terrible thing.
