Welcome to the forum, you say you are going to JBS, well, be sure that you bring any paperwork that pertains to driving. They will give you a list, make sure you have it all together when you go. Especially your medical, social security card and any prescriptions you might be taking. Be sure to write them down along with what dose they are. If you are on any dr prescribed medication DON'T leave it at home! You don't know how many people I've seen sent home because they forgot to bring their blood pressure medicine!

They do have a physical testing, lifting various weights, pushing pulling that kind of stuff. I'm a pretty big lady and I didn't have any trouble passing it. Just remember to breath deep afterwards it helps bring your heart rate back down. Don't drink excessive amounts of water the day before because it can go against you in the drug test. I saw a guy get sent home because his pee was too light, made them think he was trying to dilute it to cover up something. If you pass orientation, you will go out with a trainer for approximately 6 to 8 weeks. Few words of wisdom for living with the trainer for those weeks, LISTEN and learn, that's why they are there, to make you a safe driver, don't be afraid to ask questions practice your backing as much as you can. Oh, and remember, you are a guest in "THEIR HOUSE" keep your area clean, don't be afraid of the bar of soap either, if you get my drift. Nothing worse than being confined in a very small space with a "Stinky" 🙀

Try your best to get along with your trainer, but, if for some reason it isn't working out, you can ask for another trainer. Hope that helped you a little, I know when I went to orientation I wanted to know every thing upfront so I knew what to expect. Good luck, feel free to ask questions knowledge is a good thing! LOL

Hey Army Guy, what's this you mentioned about Q being gone? I think that would just break my heart. Has anyone been getting 1AM wake up calls from night dispatch? Over the last few weeks, they have been calling me to "make sure I was ontime". Sorry, I didn't realize I was 6.
I finally was given a new dispatcher but with the storms and another 7+ days broke down again, just started seeing the difference this week. At Hyrum right now and scored a load with two stops, NC and Miami. Nice little 2900mi run.
Got the Qualcomm messege about the cameras in the trucks, don't think I'll put up with that. Don't really want to work for JB Hunt.

Q was just on a week vacation. I got off her fleet yesterday and put on the new guy stans fleet. I do not have high hopes for this guy but ill make the best out of it for now. Im suppose to be headed to florida for hometime but they fired some guy so I took his load from greeley and relayed it to another driver in richfield Utah. Headed to cheyenne tomorrow then im hoping for something to the house.

Every time I start to think about missing being out on the road, I read this thread and it never fails to snap me back out of that!...........lol

A little update about me.......after my motorcycle accident it took a little while to find something local but I found a job driving a septic tank pumping truck, it sucked LITERALLY! But it paid the bills till something better came along!

I am now driving flatbed for a local construction company, Mon-Fri daytime, paid by the hour...........life is good!

If a camera is going to keep people from doing things they shouldn't be doing in the first place. I have no problem with it. We have had several accidents and the more accidents we have. The more chances of getting red lighted at the scales. So It would be a good thing. It is only going to be tested in 100 trucks at first. But It might go company wide I'm sure. It will save me a few bucks because I was in the market to buy one for personal use anyway.

Dam I was reading this thread backwards given the date of post. Anyway, I just applied with jbs. see how it goes. Well, has this company gotten better to drive for? Im not one to read too much into the negative things about a company but since I was reading this backwards, has it been better since the mass firings? I mean for a company to clean house like that makes me wonder. Oh well I guess ill wait for the phone call from recruiter..
