Yeah, what's wrong with this picture?

If you're looking at it as just another job, and not a business, then more than likely you will fail at Prime as a L/O. Also, IMHO, 6 months experience is no where near enough.

If he's set on Prime, then go there as a company driver, get some more experience, see how he fits in with Prime, BEFORE you decide if a lease is good for you.

Six months experience isn't even close to enough to think about starting a trucking business. That's what any of the lease or lease/purchase deals are. Don't kid yourself, it's not employment on steroids.

How is your personal debt situation? Less is better, none is ideal. Do you have enough cash to invest in this business to make it go through the rough spots like a couple of weeks with no income due to weather, truck breakdowns, crummy timing of when the loads pay? One can be successful at this, but the odds are stacked against you, and only by careful preparation can you beat them.

I have a little over 10 weeks left on a 3 year lease, and have been quite successful... so it can be done. Of the 12 people who went through lease orientation with me, according to the odds, only 3 of us should have gotten to this point.

Forget about leasing and just tell him to drive as a company driver if you want steady checks. Sure there are some old hands that make leasing work but they are the exception not the rule. Like others have said it's a business where your husband would be the only employee.
