Even if you let them send you out with a trainer for 4-5 weeks. Then leave after about 4 months?
Another company will hire you? :biggrin_2559:

I'm going to go ahead and put on a big bullseye here so feel free to sling any negative feelings my way if you must, but I am really disappointed with the majority of what i have just read on this thread. I started reading this to gain some knowledge on the down side of Knight. I'm not an OTR guy, I make good money in the oilfields most of the year. I am however, thinking about doing some OTR stuff during the winter months to gain some experience. I understand people want a place to unload their grievances, I get it. The problem is that most of what i am reading is just guys telling other guys to go F themselves in a round about way. I can't say I've really learned anything about Knight. If you are trying to post your opinion of Knight, then do so. If your experience does not match someone else's, who cares. What is the point over arguing about it. With that being said, does anybody have any tangible information about Knight? I'd like to gain some knowledge from this thread. Now ready, aim, fire!:smt070

bulldog72, it's not a bad gig, you won't get rich or make anything near what you'll make in the oil field, but it's steady, if you know what you are doing and want to work. Mpls division is one of the better ones from what I have read here.

What is Mpls division? I am thinking of Northwest Regional as when I do leave North Dakota I will be living in Boise. I'm not looking to make alot of money, just looking for more hometime. There is always another summer in the oilfield to make up for lost money in the winter. I just want to get on with a OTR company next winter that will provide consistent miles. Having lived in Oregon for the last 4 years I have seen hundreds of Knight Reefer trucks driving around. Just seems to me that even if they have some problems, it looks like they stay busy. Thanks for the info.

The reefer side will always be busyer than the dry side. Knight is not a great company but not the worst either. It is what you make of it. That is what I tell anyone looking into this company. I have been with them for 3 1/2 years and I wasn't looking to get rich, just to have a stable job since I moved to the area. They have always treated me right. I did have a couple of pay issues but they did get squared away. They also have different hiring programs I guess is what you can call them. 14 out 2 off, 7 out 7 off, casual, seasonal. They are flexiable for the most part. They also have a sliding pay scale for the miles. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info drozzer69, Are the flexible enough to let someone work monday through friday or monday though saturday? I know that they don't have forced dispatch and they seem really flexible.

You would have to call and find out. They probably can't garuntee a schedule like that unless you can acutually get something dedicated. The 7 on 7 off thing may be best for you. I wish I could help you more. All I can say is call and see what they tell you. Also maybe ask a driver from a terminal nearest to where you live can also help. Any other questions feel free to ask or pm me. Best wishes in what you choose to do.

Yes. Don't ask "how", the answer is just yes. You can get home. If you complain all the time, then no, you'll never see home. You won't ever get miles either. Are you experienced enough to know the trucking biz? If not, then you'll have issues, if yes then you know what i mean.

    I'm rich btw....:biggrin_2559:
