A friend of mine just called me and asked about this. He works for an appliance delivery company, was out as a helper today and the driver he is with passed a site where they were doing inspections. This was in North Jersey somewhere. He said neither of them saw any signs or flashing lights but may have been blocked by a truck on their right. They got stopped and the driver was issued a citation for failing to stop for an inspection and it has a court appearance date on it. I told him it's probably not anything with points on the license but I figured I would post it here and see what pops up. I've never had this happen to me so I really am not too sure what to tell him. Any of you here have any experience with this? Also the cop did do an inspection which was fine but am I to assume that this will carry some CSA points for the driver? Thanks....

It's a non moving violation, simply a reason to take your money and give you a few CSA points. I got one of those on my first load in AZ, ouch lol
-
That's what I figured. Told him to have the driver call the court clerk and see if he can just pay the fine or if he must appear and the judge will set the fine.

The want you to appear. If you don't hey will suspend you licence. Make lots of money.
Also will fine you, make lots more money.

When he calls to get the fine amount tell him to make sure he is sitting down, but he should be able to just pay the fine before the court date and be done with it. If he doesn't pay before the court date he will be getting an all expense paid trip to suspension city.

New Jersey took trucking related items off the court lists.
Even if the cop forgets to check off 'court apperance required' it is usually a manditory court appearance. only courts I know who are different is Pennsville & Greenwich where the super coops are located.
Both of them will give you your overweight fine amount over the phone.
So what used to be a $42.00 mail it in ticket turns into $85 -$120 depending on the judge plus court costs around $30.00 on top.
Also truck related stuff usually does not have points; the McGrievy [he said I am a gay american] adminstration gave motorists a way to buy their way out of points by pleading guilty to 'Unsafe Driving' and paying around $450.00. You can use this twice.
You can't use this for any violation that does not include points. It does show up as unsafe driving on one's abstract and that could cause problems for someone employed by a company outside NJ.
