    Hi folks,

I am a wannabe at this point, but that will soon change. I was a machinist for 20 years before getting a dose of male breast cancer. After having Chemo, and all kinds of "let's try this medication" from my oncologist, and various other doctors, I wasn't able to get back in the machine shop. It wasn't until my long term benefits ran their course, and ended, that I discovered all of those meds were what was keeping me from getting well!

I'm 5 years cancer free, and now also free of med interaction problems! Yay!

Now I'm feeling good and ready to start a new chapter in my life. Not interested in going back into a windowless machine shop after a couple of years outside.

I have passed the D.O.T. physical, and have my class "A" permit. I am currently looking hard at sage truck driving school, and at May to start out with.

Have only had two jobs in the last 20 years with no unemployment before cancer. and am ready to get out there and go again for another 12-15 years!

Have any of you on this forum changed careers this late in life?

I did. I am 50. Us older folks I think are better candidates as we tend to be more wise (and more cautious). Welcome!
