I Start With Averitt in January 2012

I have over 2k now and cooling my heels in jms waiting on a load for tomorrow to get me home. I had hoped to get home tomorrow but I guess not. I've been going hard since mid day Sunday. I still don't have a load so I have no idea when I'll leave. Good miles this week to make up for last week. I miss my old FM. LOL

Well went to my one day of orientation and met some of the new drivers and i will say this time the experience wasn't as good as the first time I went to orientation at averitt. A bunch of the guys here were really young and pretty arrogant and trying to act like a bad #####. I just stayed in my room all day yesterday and went to class today and met up with my new FM Alan...Pretty cool guy and I think we will get along great.

Another thing I think I'm pretty stupid for taking this TL spot in some aspects. They dropped my cpm by 3 cents because based on my time/experience they said I shouldn't be where i was at even though In ltl I was getting paid for exact the amount of time of service.

 

Cory call me crazy but my second time was lame compared to when you and i went, they just gave me the feeling they think they are so much better than other companies and i know they are in some regards, probaly is the place to be for a ltl job. In my time there i talked to more unhappy TL drivers than i could believe, and they are full of it about the two to three yr. old fleet.Anyway i had high hopes it would be better my second time around but it wasnt. I want to say Mike Perhay is a #### good temporary fleet manager and a good guy to deal with!! I think they need to step back and quit hiring every monday, everybody needs a start but they need enough miles to make it. Good luck to everyone out there, Averitt has alot of good people working there!! Everyones situation is diffrent, i am the bread winner for us so i had to make a change, I will be in touch.

 

Yeah, I've had a few job offers to work in intermodal for jb hunt and Schneider and Im seriously considering it. I just want to give this a try because I do have a few years under my belt and I don't want to give that up so easy. Give me your number again in the messages. I got a new phone!

I had a good week.... About 2700 on the odometer. Got home around 2247 with 34 mins on my 14 hour clock. I was crapping myself. 93 miles out I had blown rear tandem wrapping the mud flap. Two hour wait and the guy got up and running in 35 mins. Whew.
