I got a PM about 30 minutes ago asking me if I wanted to help. I am pretty lost at the moment with all the new forums and buttons. It may be a while before I learn how to exercise any new found power.

So far all I have done is delete a couple of spammers selling Ipads. They won't let me fight the Chinese robots yet.

    4/8-4/12

Slow week. I was off Mon and Tuesday. Left Wednesday around 9:00AM and ran a drop and hook dry bulk dedicated load to N Chicago and back to Browns Summit. Got home around 6:00 PM Friday. This load pays a company driver about $750 and is cake generally reserved for the O/O's.

I will get a 34 in and head back out Sunday. I have a load sitting on the yard that has to be at a coal mine in KY on Monday between 7:00 and 3:00. That will add another 500 miles or so to the check depending on how far I decide to run Sunday. Hopefully the system is running like it was before my break.

Speaking of cake loads, I have been giving some serious though to going the IC route in another year. I have talked to a few IC's and they seem to be making out pretty good. I want to get at least two years under my belt before pursuing. Then maybe I can get some of those "cake" loads! haha

I was thinking about calling that run cake yesterday as I listened to the traffic reports of all the flooding around Chicago at about the same time I would have been fighting it last week. Someone did not have a happy day.

    4/14-4/19

Sitting in my home away from home at the company hotel in Sulphur La again. I have logged enough nights here between my breakdown and a couple of resets to get a free room in Wyndhams rewards program. I think I will try to cash it in for the Monday night Panthers/Patriots game in Charlotte.

This week started out slow with a coal mine load to Madisonville Ky delivering Monday. I finished that one and grabbed a preloaded trailer and 337 mile load to Calhoun Ga delivering Tuesday. Got that one off and was tankwashed to Morrow Ga. The had me loading the next morning in Macon with a 561 mile load delivering in Crossett. The trailer wasn't ready so I had to take my break at the terminal even though I still had over 4 hours to drive. It also worked out to be a 14 hour break so no layover pay.

I got that load the next day. That Crossett load is a bit of a pain. Tight blindside back to the inlet valve that sits under a cooling tower where it rains 24/7. Its a nasty rain too. My truck was coated in a white paste. I wore my rubber coat even though it wasn't a hazmat load and still got filthy.

Sulphur dispatch called and we talked about this load to Michigan delivering Monday. She offered to preload it for me Friday so I decided to reset with 19 hours left on the 70 and head out Saturday morning with a fresh 70. Pretty much a no brainer for me. 10 hours of layover pay and 2 nights in the hotel verses 3 days to go 1100 miles and running on roll over hours next week.

Load was waiting for me on the yard just like they said it would be. I even had a standard set of hoses on the tank. This was a temperature sensitive load. I got it at 130F with a delivery window of 115-130. I figured it would be ok but decided to stop 100 miles short of the plant Sunday evening at Markham. Had the temp dropped below 115 I could get it steamed after the tankwash guys got there at 2300. It wound up being 118 on delivery so I just ran with it Monday morning.

The delivery went off without a problem and I was tankwashed back to Markham. They had me loading Tuesday morning up in Janesville Wi with a load going to Raeford NC. I still had 6 hours to run and was glad to see my trailer sitting on the line with a clean out slip on it. Paperwork said it required special prep and seals. I was very pleased that Markham dispatch was able to get me rolling north out of there ahead of evening rush hour. My preplan would have had me right in the middle of morning rush hour after sitting for 14 hours at the terminal. I ran it on up to the Loves on I-90/39.

Ran 2 days back to High Point and went home Wednesday night. Got up this morning and delivered the load in Raeford at 8AM. I am off for the weekend.

Hey Rob. I have almost 2 moths with superior and love it. I don't miss fedex at all. Well little cause enjoy being home but pay checks are a lot better here. Most part I am keeping busy. Everyone has been good and willing to help out or answer any questions I have. I am off till thursday afternoon or fri. Will spend month of may on road. I like going out for 3-4 weeks. Dispatch always asking if I want to go home. I am like no run me. I enjoy that north Chicago run but the weight kills ya on back roads in ky. Going to try us 35 next time. All in all been great time. They give me too much time to get to each place. Nw I got passport maybe getong Canadan run. I am happy and thank you for all your posts.

Glad to hear it. I run US35 on that N Chicago run. Ed likes to run the AA in Kentucky but I always made better time on 35. You can deliver early on some system loads.

I am on my way up to Holland Mi on a dedicated run this week. My wife is having some medical issues so I asked them to run me out and back for a few weeks. My checks will suffer but 4 day weekends are nice.

Ran a paint load from High Point to Holland and back this week. Left about noon Tuesday and got home around 11:00 Friday. Pretty uneventful. Took 5.5 hours to get unloaded. I could have pushed it and gotten home Thursday night but chose to not drive past 10PM.

I am off until Monday early when I head out with a Plaquemine La out and back dedicated. Should get home Wednesday on that one.

These dedicated runs generally pay company drivers between $700-$850 depending on hourly paid wait time. It would make a good "Simi Retirement" for a driver... work 3 days, take 4 days off for what works out to around $40,000 per year.
