Not sure about Juneau but in Anchorage there are outfits who hire locally and OTR. Have you looked into Carlile, American Fast Freight or Pacific AK Freight? There is also Lynden but they are union. All these hire drivers with a B cdl. If your looking to get into a company that trains you with no experience at the Class A level your best bet is lower 48. There are companies that go from Seattle to anchorage/fairbanks but they want a ton of experience upfront as they drive the alcan and that road is no joke, you want the experience. Best of luck to you.
Why don't companies hire out of AK?

Hello all,
So I ended up getting my cdl class A with PSX endorsement. Now it may come down to me doing what many suggested and migrate down south. Now that I have it as normal with those familiar with Juneau there is very little work for someone with no experience. Even Teamsters said it was an issue. Any suggestions now that I have my CDL? -
Have you checked out Lynden Transport?

I am glad to see that you returned to this thread. I am in Anchorage and will begin CDL school Sept. 8 at NIT Palmer, in the interim I have been doing research on companies mentioned here, and ones I find online via jobsites and craigslist, and reading all I can on this forum.
Some just off the top of my head;
Carlisle
Lynden
Inlet petroleum
Crowley
Sea Land-Horizon
Span Alaska
American Fast Freight
K & L distributors
ODOM Co.
Pepsi
Coke a Cola
Food Service of America
Sysco
Halliburton
Shoreside Petroleum
TOTE
Sourdough Express
All I can offer is names, I no nothing regarding their respective qualifications, pay or benefits.
I am going to hope that you keep this updated as you search for, and gain employment!
Good luck! -
NIT is the school I gained my cdl class A. It is a great program and I wish you luck. If you are in the Anchorage area I believe you will have an easier time than at the moment. I am still in Juneau and trying to relocate is a hard situation right now. I will start pulling up these companies tonight and making the call tomorrow.
We Alaskians should start putting a foot in this forum so others may find a way when their time comes. I will keep this updated as I go and you are more than welcome to update as well to keep it going. -
Excellent, looking forward to it!

They can't get you home, try Fairchild Freight after you get 5 years experience http://fairchildfreight.com/
