If you love your dad I wouldn't do it, this could have some very damaging effects on your relationship with him.
dannythetrucker and Dinomite Thank this. -
I have a newer truck than my friend of 23 years. He is driving it right now. He makes $$$ so do I. The truck keeps moving, and makes $$$. I drive on loads he don't want. The lease covers two drivers. Just enough to make it worth doing. My team days are way behind me. I do some LTL with his truck. Local Within 150 miles.

I knew a guy years ago who employed 4 teams with 3 trucks. It was a slip seat operation where 3 teams worked and one had time off every 4th week. Everyone seemed happy with the arrangement.
I had a run where I did a roundtrip per day from Wooster, OH to Dearborn, MI and back. Bought a second truck for my dad to do the same run at a different time. We were on a schedule that if one truck needed to go in the shop we were able to use the same truck to do both runs, it worked out real well, till the run ended. -
One of the biggest reason may not do it is, i need to make more money then him as i have 4one kids and wife @ home and he is single.

I agree. They want to run a truck full time, yet neither wants do what it takes to make money. Obviously, money problems WILL destroy your relationship with Pops.
How so?
There's a lot of things that happen in our job where we have no control over (weather, breakdowns, slow shippers/receivers,TONUs...etc)
What happens when bad weather hits, and you decide to shut down. You talk with Pops, and he says that he would have pushed through. Or on your week, the truck runs fine, Pop gets it and its in the shop for 4 days, you get it run for a week, Pop gets it back and he's in the shop for 3 days. Do you split your money with him? Do you expect Pops to split his money with you if you shut down for a couple days because of bad weather?
I really don't see Pops splitting his money if he's thinking you were a candyaxx for shutting down. Simplest solution, DON'T GO THERE.blacklabel Thanks this. -
I hear ya.

20 grand. . 2 dollars a milex10000 miles...we figure a 1.70 a mile to run truck depending on fuel prices.with that number thetes 3000 bucks left over at the end. How do you split that and pay bills....if nothing bad happens to the truck?....= bad idea
blacklabel Thanks this. -
We are seeing this. Just had to hit enough people up for the numbers.

its totally ok i know people who do it as long as the company knows who drives as the insurance company has to know so your both covered. it beats team driving where you split the pay. i didnt like team driving so i drove for team company as a soul driver
