This should prolly be in the Flatbed sub-forum. Boyd has been a pretty good bet for those new to flatbedding from everything I've heard. I don't like their tarp pay or I'd think about going there myself, even with flatbed experience, but they still pay pretty well. And seem to have decent equipment. If this was in the FB forum though more folks that may drive from Boyd would see it. Or here which is Boyd's own section on the forums.

10 days...2 weeks. When I first started flatbedding, I had to do 2 weeks on the yard securing loads. Things were different back then. There wasn't any discussions of WLL, and how securement worked, g70 and g43 and whatnot.
So, Boyd is going to train you. I wouldn't look at it as a negative thing. Anything that I can do to better my trade, I will do. You are adding to your trade, making yourself more marketable. That's always a good thing. -
I was wondering about a couple things. I was accepted to boyd orientation today. I've applied 2-3 times and always told no. My recruiter told me today that I was good to go. But, I have an abandonment on my dac from a year ago and a felony for child support. I really am excited about this job opportunity but don't wanna go to orientation if they are just gonna send me home. Is there anyone who may have info that would help?

My brother worked for Boyd, and regrets leaving. But when he was in orientation, there was a guy in orientation with him from CT, and about halfway through the first day they sent him away because of something on his DAC report. I would address it with the company before I commited to going, and make da*n sure they know what you're talking about; abandonment is a pretty serious stuff, and I couldn't see where any company would have you, although I for one would probably agree with your reasoning for leaving the truck somewhere.

Well I called her today and asked her about it and asked another recruiter too. The other one said that abandonment wasn't a problem. But my felony for child support is another story. My recruiter said it didn't show up on my background check. She keeps telling me that everything is good and to stop worrying. Kinda hard though. Us xpress did me like that too. Got me to orientation and on the last day they said they had better qualified people and sent me home. Just don't wanna run into that crap again. But, us xpress didn't pull anything or do employment verifications till I got there when my recruiter said she had already done all of that and I was clear. So im kinda gunshy on that happening again.
