Percentage vs. Per Mile

Here is an Example you may understand and see it better...

I had three estimates from a roofing company to do my roof.So we will call the ''owner'' the salesman.Just like the ''owner'' of a trucking company or CH Robinson.All three different ''owners'' came by my home.I had 3 different estimates on the whole job from start to finish..I had one for 5,000,4,500 and 4,000...

I went with the guys i kinda new and took the middle one,4,500..The day came to have dumpster delivered and the guys showed up.Little did i no,the guy SOLD my job to the Mexicans.....I get 6 Mexicans at my home ready to work..I was not to happy but went with it and dealt with it..

I got to talking to one of the Mexicans my neighbor new from Contracting.He told us that they get 80% from the job.I started to be noisy and asked the lead guy how much are you doing this for.He said the job is 80% of 4,000...

500.00 skimmed and paid at 80%...Do you see it now...To me this is not fair play and the mexicans got screwed.His contract states 80% of the job...

I did not say anything even though i wanted to.The roof came out wonderful and they did a great job..

In the end the ''owner'' screwed me and the mexicans all for his own SELFISH GREED.This behavior goes on over and over in trucking.They ''sell'' these loads and by the time it gets to the O/O it is Peanuts..

Yea, like some guy says, you pay stupid taxes your first year of running a business. I paid alot of them. As for the miles, I pulled them outta my ### aparrently. I started 02 Feb 12, and as of 02 Feb 13 I had 148k. The $61k was cut off Dec 21 (I took the rest of the year off ) As of Dec 21 I had 128K on the truck. That would make it $0.47 per mile. Not much better, but learning the business has a price. My first quarter numbers are much better. $0.61 per mile net outta $1.68 per mile average. How am I doing for my first year in the biz? Not bad I think, especially for being with a supercarrier.

 

Thats called buyers remorse.

 

as I said, I wasnt picking on you, and I have paid a ton of stupid tax. we all have. I honestly believe you can and should net more an half as many miles. I do it, and I'm a lazy sob that spends a third of the year at home. I'm nothing special so if I can each and everyone of us

 

Did you tell them the situation so that they would know the facts and maybe seek legal representation to go after the guy who got $4500 but said the job was $4000 to those guys? Ah, you said you didn't. So who was more wrong in this situation? The guy who lied about what the job was bid for or the guy who knew someone was getting ripped off and did nothing about it? So the "owner" screwed over the Mexicans. The got taken advantage of and you want to feel you were taken advantage of, though you were not as you were given what you negotiated for at the price you agreed to. The Mexicans got taken advantage of while you stood by and let it happen without saying anything and you want a piece of the action by saying you got screwed? That is not a very lofty position to take. You are just as guilty of those guys getting taken advantage of because you didn't say anything and just stood by while it happened when you knew it was happening and had the ability to let them know. Both you and the "owner" were wrong. Just for different reasons. So you want to cry foul over what the "owner" did but you are not ashamed of what you didn't do. Oh, I understand. The roof came out great.

 

.There is no talking to ''rickybobby''..He is convinced no one STEALS from him and it's none of his business if they do..

 

It was just an ''example'' what the agents,brokers and company owners do everyday to STUPID TRUCK DRIVERS...

 

..Does your common trucker call ''foul'' to the people they work for on %.??..
