I am currently almost finish with training. Do to some unfortunate mishap, my current trainers truck broke down last week. I have been stuck in hotels here in Decatur, Alabama. On yesterday, I was notified that another trainer was in route to come and get me, so I could complete my training. I spoke with the trainer a few hours later and he told me that he has an International Prostar. I have been driving Freightliners since I attended truck driving school. I'm kinda worried that I might not be as good as I had become in the Freightliners. Can any drivers with experience in both, give me some pointers or advice on the difference between the 2... (if there is a difference). Thanks in advance, and stay SAFE out there drivers!

During your carreer you're going to be driving all different kinds of trks and hauling different kinds of trailers with different freight. If you learned how to handle a Freightliner, you won't have any problems with the International Prostar. You're new and the trainer knows this.Just take your time and most of all relax, you'll do just fine.

I never understood the double cluthch thing, even in training i was terrible. Slipping gears without the clutch seemed easier for me. Rookie, dont be surprised if you break down again because those International prostar are always in the shop!

Yea. I believe my company uses 10 speed Eaton Fuller transmissions in all their trucks.

I found the Prostar I drove to be smoother and quieter than the Cascadias I have driven.

The Cascadia had a better feel as far as shifting goes. The Cascadia was roomier, the Prostar was more comfortable.

Every time I go from a T800/T600/W900 type cab into a T2000 I feel like I can't see a darn thing on the right side of the truck. Man I hate those T2's.

You may find that you like the Prostar better than the FLs or you might actively dislike it. It shouldn't be a problem and the experience will help you.
