nahh, he's not talking about North Star Foods, but North Star Ranch/ Logistics, out of Howell,MI. I have no personal knowledge of the company, but they do have nice looking (and newer) equipment, and I know they want two to three years of experience.
Whereabouts in Northern MI do you live? There are a few companies in the thumb that might be able to do something for you. -
way up north near gaylord about 50 miles from the bridge.and yes im talking north star ranch. the guy i have been talking to makes it sound pritty good.
bad part is only offering .31cpm.but they pay off the hub.
he clams i get detoured i will be paid for that detour.
its bad when compines turn me down for driving just because i live to far north.(EVEN JB HUNT TURNED ME DOWN HAHAHA).
And yes i have a clean driveing record.(just for those who are wondering)
the bad part is i will have to drive from home to howell.they have no hauls north of I96. -
Oh man, that does suck- that's one long ride home. but paid off the hub is at least a compromise. And they do have some decent looking equipment- newer trucks and trailers. I think they even pull some chip wagons.
You could also check with some of the companies in northern WI- a lot of the drivers from the Yoop (U.P. or Upper Peninsula for you non-Michiganders) drive for companies out of there cause they can get them home more easily. But it probably won't be that often. Niagra Logistics is the only one that is coming to mind right now, if I remember any others I will give you a shout. -
well i think i will give this company a try.All i have to do is about a half day orentation.i am hoping to start tusday.i should be loaded by noon on tusday i will have to update every one to let them know how its going.

North Star Ranch this company is a rip off also they keep $1000 dollars out of your pay for some thing they call a drivers peformance bond(dpb)
if any thing happens to company equimpmentyou pay for it with this money.they also told me i would start at .32 cpm and after running they only paid .31 cpm.
Another driver i talked to has been with the company 5 years just becouse some medical problams has stoped him from better jobs.he says no one gets a raise every one gets .31 cpm.
than if you take a cash advance they keep an addnational 10% for them self out of your check.if you take a cash advance and a TCH check in the same week they keep an addnational 10% and 25$ out for extra paper work.
now they are sending me papers saying they have not received completed papers on final loads. for last week so i feel i will not receive my final pay check .
Another driver was telling me he picked up a trl that had a damaged mud flap the company charged him almost $200 to fix a mud flap and he had to put the $200 back in the drivers performance bond.
also said the owner would try to collect on damages already done to equimpment 2-3 even 4 times if he can.
No wonder how he owns 2 west cost choppers-and a bunch of other toys for him self.
I would advise drivers to stay away from these guys. -
now its been a week since i left this company and they dont wanna give me my final pay check.i would advise dirvers to stay away from this compnay
