On the flip side of that the trucker that is getting a Slo-Mo Pass should remember to back off on his/her speed to let the pass happen quicker if there is traffic backing up behind the passing truck. Little courtesies like this go a long way to letting folks know you are aware and helping out other truckers.

Many old timers complain about the growing lack of respect newer truckers exhibit. Things like pulling into a busy fuel line, then getting out of your truck to go get a Subway... meanwhile the fuel island is cleared and nobody can get fuel and you come out and pull through to get on your way... after causing a longer delay for truckers needing to fuel and go. If you are going to use the fuel lines for your restroom break, then wait in your truck until AFTER you pull through. If you are going to take the time to buy food, then you shouldn't be in the fuel lines in the first place. Normally I take only 15 minutes to get fuel and get on my way, including restroom break (driving as a team). Recently I had a ONE HOUR fuel stop because of so many dunces parked in front of, in, and just after the fuel islands.

    Courtesy.

    That's the by word.

I've learned to do that, just out of courtesy. If someone's slowly passing me ill back off a few mph. Every now and then the steering wheel holder behind me will assume I'm just slowing down and then try to pass me after riding my butt the past 10 miles. Then when the truck passes and I speed back up the steering wheel holder gets all frustrated because he didn't wanna slow down and see what I was doing. Tisk tisk.

Come on TTR and ask any question about drug testing.

Not from personal experience, just an observation.

Making eye contact with that driver at the TS who has been waiting all day to find someone to listen to his/her stories.

Jumping on the first company that calls you back when you are looking for your first driving job.

Getting so frustrated by a little mistake that you end up making a big one.

Late 2am on my first week alone, had trouble finding the dock at the shipper. Had to drive around tight city streets full of parked cars to get to it. Running short on hours, had to drop and hook and make it to the "not so near" TS in what time I had left.

They tell me to put it in door four. Found the door, got it in, pulled the hoses and the kingpin handle and started to pull out!!!! Wham!

Luckily I was pulling out slow and it only dropped onto the frame, and luckily it was an empty....

I put my sweatshirt hood up and did the other type of walk of shame back to the dollies to crank them down.

Ok I'll admit when I was younger I backed under a trailer " LOADED" and said it's good hooked the hoses raised the jacks and let the trailer on the ground !!! 3 guys in the yard laughed the whole time I was jacking it back up. one told me not to worry eventually I would get the same pleasure of laughing at a rookie, But I just couldn't so I went and helped him.

How about the guys who get the tractor jerking violently side to side when they are backing because they are trying to work the clutch and brake at the same time?

Well i have been driving for a minute but still consider my self a rookie because I learn something everyday......well I think the biggest mistake I have made since driving was getting held up at a delivery, getting the green light, burning rubber to the next pick up, and getting to the Pilot in another state to transflo only to realize I never went in to get the bol from the delivery talk about rookie mistake. Not only did I hold my money up, but I had to call the consignee and ask that they fax me the bol and it took them a week to send it. SMH.....Good thing is, so far it has only happened once.......to be continued
